14: Costa Rica, Uruguay, Italy. Bottom of the group.

16: Wales, Slovakia, Russia. Group runners up. Out to Iceland last 16.

Nobody has said England have been amazing but I wish people would stop rewriting history in suggesting England have underachieved at this tournament.

In our last ten tournaments we've topped our group just twice, we've won two knockout games in ten tournaments (Denmark and Ecuador) and even failed to qualify for one - incidentally at Croatia's expense who we should be bitterly disappointed at losing to in a World Cup semi.

I'm not suggesting this is a great England squad but I'm not seeing how they've underachieved more than any other, arguably more talented, squads in the last 20 years.

I don't think England have really under or overachieved this tournament. They've got further than I expected but partly down to the draw.

No offence taken and most people agree with you.

The only ones who got carried away were those who are young and have never seen England do anything of note, so I don’t blame them for getting excited. But us older fans expected to be disappointed!

We don't score tap ins, have you seen archie gemmels goal against Holland in 78? Most overrated player in the English team

That’s your World Cup history right there. One goal.

And no you don’t score tap ins at world cups. You score **** all as you don’t qualify.
