Apologies for the lateness of setting this up, I'd planned to set up a fantasy football game which I started to work on last summer as a lockdown project (I won't lie it wasn't for FF it was to self teach myself some advanced spreadsheet shit because that is precisely what turns me on these days) but unfortunately I forgot all about it and I've not been able to complete it in time. I may rekindle this for the new season on a domestic level but for now I thought I would go for a Prediction League / Fantasy Football hybrid. All you need to do is: Make your predicted final score for each match Select 3 players from either side for each match (so either 1 from one side and 2 from the other or all 3 from one side) - these must consist of 1 Goalkeeper or Defender, 1 Midfielder and 1 Striker (positions taken from All the EURO 2020 squads) And then each game will be scored as below: 3 points for correct score / 1 point for the correct outcome Selected players will score 2 points for starting and completing at least 60 minutes / 1 point for coming on as a sub at any time / 1 point for starting but being subbed before 60 minutes GOALKEEPER will score 5 points for a clean sheet* / 3 points for a penalty save / 15 points for a goal / 10 points for an assist DEFENDER will score 5 points for a clean sheet* / 5 points for an assist / 6 points for a goal MIDFIELDER will score 2 points for a clean sheet* / 4 points for an assist / 5 points for a goal STRIKER will score 4 points for an assist / 4 points for a goal *The points for the clean sheet will only be given in full if the player completes at least 60 minutes. If they are subbed before HT they will receive 0 points for this, if they are subbed at HT the clean sheet score will reduce by 2 points, if they are subbed between 46-60 mins the clean sheet score will reduce by 1 point. Players will lose points as below: GOALKEEPER & DEFENDERS ONLY will lose 1 point per goal conceded (this will only be effective while players are on the pitch) Players will lose 2 points if they score an own goal Yellow cards will lose player 1 point Red cards will lose player 5 points (note that sendings off for 2 yellows will equate to a 7 point deduction) Conceding a penalty will lose player 1 point Missing a penalty will lose player 2 points I will probably use the BBC Sport website to obtain the stats each time to keep it fair. And for some final bonus points to be added at the end, also predict the final standings for each group (this must be done before the first match of each group starts) and you will pick up 1 point for every nation in the right group position. And then select your champions of the tournament - 10 points awarded for picking the winner (this must be done before the first match kicks off on Friday). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Results Spreadsheet is below:
Surely a player can only score an OG if he’s on the pitch? Or are you saying all defenders lose 2 points regardless of who’s scored the own goal? Also, picking finalists is tough as got to work out the different routes etc and who can and can’t meet who.
Yes mate, going to keep everything in this thread (was meant to include that in the OP) There are 2 parts to the scoring detail on that particular bullet point so I've moved the line you quoted to a more convenient location to help you out It was basically referring to the fact that if your defender is subbed off and then the team goes on to concede 2 goals, they won't be hit with the -2 points for the goals conceded - would be a bit unfair to punish that choice if the player is sat in the dugout
I had thought about that and thought about setting the deadline an hour before so before team sheets are handed in but would probably make the whole thing farcical, especially in the final group games where teams will play different teams dependent on their situation - would just become a guessing game
Group A Italy Turkey Switzerland Wales Group B Belgium Denmark Russia Finland Group C Netherlands Austria Ukraine North Macedonia Group D England Croatia Scotland Czech Republic Group E Spain Poland Sweden Slovakia Group F France Portugal Germany Hungary Final France vs Portugal (don’t even know if that’s possible and can’t be arsed to work it all out ) Winners France
Shit, I forgot about the fact that the competition is structured like that. I've taken the 'pick the finalists' part out and will just go with the winner to keep it simple
