Having seen a lot of very good teams at Celtic Park over the years that Salzburg team where one of the most impressive outside the likes of Barca etc. Valencia is not the worst tie as they don't seem to score a lot of goals but they don't concede much either so I can see it being a tight game. If we play to certain standard like we have over the last couple of years like Bayern home, Liepzig at home, BMG away and Anderlecht away then we will give ourselves a good chance of progressing. Play like we did at the weekend and we can forget about even making it a contest.
Cheers. They are no mugs either and ended the Champions League campaign decent. Still fancy Salzburg but you can never confidently predict a game like that.
‘Vastly’ superior to a team you have admitted to not seeing much of? Valencia may prove to be as good as you say, but I am confident in saying that there wouldn’t be much in it even with them being at their best.
You seem to be basing your whole argument on the cost of their team as opposed to any actual evidence.
It's ignorance and that's not a dig at Muller. Because they don't play in a top league and don't have big name players they can't be that good. Their game is all about their style of play, their pressing game is top class. Other teams will have better players but it's not all about that.
I’m happy with the draw. It was going to be two tough games regardless of who we drew and Valencia will be favourites. Just hoping we invest in January, to give ourselves a fighting chance. The squad needs freshening up a bit.
Strange how things turn for teams, when the draw was made I thought it was a very difficult tie, that started to fade a bit with Valencia's form not being great but then they have stepped it up again lately and i'm back to the original thought that it's going to be a really difficult against a top side. We all know what Celtic Park can do to teams though and if we turn up we're in with a shout. Going over to Spain for the second leg next week but don't know if i'll be in the stadium or not. Estimates of around 12,000 Celtic fans travelling with only 2,500 tickets. Valencia have refused to sell tickets online in fear of our support snapping them up and are insisting on people showing their Spanish ID when buying direct from the stadium. They won't sell out so hopefully they will open extra sections for the Celtic support on the day of the game, as has happened before. If not they are going to create a lot of problems outside the ground with thousands trying to get in.
