I didn't notice any difference??? I also feel both had pretty poor games in truth. Bit of a scrappy game, but the result we needed. Go through and now top the table.
This. Pretty poor performance in all honesty. Home performances under Klopp still have several gears to go up.
Neither played well on the night. Our passing a bit sloppy overall. Good attritional win in the end as we'd have drawn that 2-2 under Rodgers and we're trying to get in the habbit of seeing games out again. We saw the game out comfortably enough second half and through to the next round. Should get a result in Sion to win the group. I don't think we could go near a Bordeaux player all night without them falling over and getting a free kick. At least we got a pen when we matched that.
Yeah, the ref seemed to wanna give them everything. Thought he had an awful game in truth, our pen was very soft and some of the freekicks he gave them were poor. Even the Mignolet incident, doesn't time-wasting by the goalie usually result in a yellow and the goalie told to get on with it? You don't see many actual freekicks given for it.
We committed 23 fouls tonight without being overly aggressive! Nearly twice as many as Saturday. Our passing wasn't great and every time we tried to win the ball back the ref gave a free kick, so impossible to really get momentum going. With Can and Lallana rested and Coutinho, Henderson and Sturridge missing with injury (as well as Sakho who gets us playing from the back) then it wasn't as flowing as you'd like.
Funny, with the benefit of replays i and the commentators/pundits thought he had a very good game. Yes the pen was soft but at least he was consistent, disallowing Bentekes goal for an equally soft challenge. And Mignolet held onto the ball for 24 seconds mate, he fully deserved everything that happened.
Poor performance but the win was the important thing - only need a draw at Sion now to top the group. Wtf was Mignolet playing at though?
Oh yeah, I know what he did. But I cant recall many actual freekicks being awarded for it, the goalie usually gets a yellow card and told to get on with it. **** knows what he was doing anyway, I don't even think he was actually meaning to waste time, he just seemed to have a brain fart and couldn't decide what to do with the ball sometimes he genuinely seems to be on another planet... And no, I thought the ref had an horrendous game, seemed to wanna give Bordeaux a free kick for just about anything.
I'm not one to comment on referees performances generally because they often get too much stick for a hard job, but that **** tonight was a ****ing shambles. Taught my nephew a few new words! Not as bad as Mignolet mind. I'm not sure how it came across on TV tonight, but he did that holding on to the ball thing so often when he has a myriad of options, incredibly frustrating. But its every game too. Him & Pepe both regressed under Achterberg...
Pretty sure you're thinking of when they time waste for free-kicks and goal kicks. I've never seen a keeper called up for holding the ball in his hands for too long.
We're crying out for a pass master in midfield who can keep possession because we haven't got a team well versed to keeping the ball. Even Joe Allen kept giving the ball away, James Milner can't pass water and Lucas is there to break play up.
In that his raison d'etre is supposed to be great at keeping possession, but he isn't. We haven't really had a midfielder who can keep the ball properly since Xabi left.
Mignolets screw up reminds of the time, the "Ref?" called Reina for carrying the ball outside the box, except he gave a direct free on it. The only reason I can see that players like Allen, Lucas and a few others playing, is Klopp evaluating them
Sorry, I can't agree with you. For a player to get a yellow card almost every game he plays, tells me he can't tackle with a crapola, so what's he offer?...has more cards than Scholes nearly, and he couldn't tackle either. He's very lucky he's employed I believe
