Hey guys, basically in my degree I'm going to be designing an electric car and branding/marketing it. I just need some feedback on the typography for the logo currently, and if I get some responses then I'll ask for more feedback on other designs later as the project goes on, cheers. If you could let me know your top 2 or 3 choices by the number above them, that would be really helpful. Thanks!
6, 10 and 14 are my favorites. 13 is awesome graphically speaking but it won't work while establishing a brand because you can't make out the Ernest properly. BTW, I've always been a big fan of the Nevis font, which is amazing for pretty much everything. Its bold, but not too strong, so it looks sleek and dominant at the same time. Try playing with that if you haven't already. I'd also play around with either the S or an O to shape in a wheel, a golden brakedisc or simply something like an led light to give more of a connection to the electric car concept. Also, give the font you used in the word 'Typography' in the OP and see how that looks. Having said that, they're all pretty good and none of them seem bad.
What type of car are you producing? Is it to rival the likes of the Prius or Tesla? For a typical car brand I would go with 1 or 3. However, for a Tesla rival I would go with 8.
Great info with the Nevis fon, Tshabs, comes out nicely! Once I get my font choices I'm going to play around next with making it more like a logo to get some sort of connection. I'm currently still designing but I'm looking at doing an electric sportscar (think SLS AMG Electric Drive), but Tesla have been a really big inspiration which I think is why I had a preference for 8.
5, but I feel like an improved version (maybe make the "Ernest" more legible) of 13 would be the clear winner.
Yeah I really like how 15 has come out, similar to 1 but has a bit more character to the font. Thanks Stret. I like the look of 13 but I'm really struggling to get it legible enough so I may have to just use the font and look for some marketing. I tried moving the motors to the side slightly more here, but it's not clear enough still I think; A lot of votes for 5, thanks Tom.
I think the issue with that is that the important bit is the name, rather than the 'motors', yet the 'motors' text jumps out whilst obscuring the 'Ernest' text, if that makes sense?
Definitely makes sense, I tried switching them around but it didn't look right either, I just don't think that one will work.
Use the 2nd version of that, draw wheel spokes in the O and connect them to a diagonal line which would form the S as well. I've made a very quick idea of what I mean which I'm sure you can improve easily. If you're using a rectangle behind the 'Motors' text to cut the Ernest text off, then draw two separate ones, one on 'M' and one on 'tors' leaving the space behind the O blank so that you can add the lines or just use the font itself for the lines. What do you think?
This, the problem with the one that you posted Speakers is that the S now becomes unreadable and could be EARNEOT motors if you're not familiar with the brand and trying to fill in the blank. Tshabs making it into a wheel idea does help however it still doesn't clearly show the brand name
I don't think it looks bad but the S having a diagonal line is off a little with the rest of the font, nice idea though Tshabs. I think I'll just scrap the idea of 13 for a logo concept. Totally agreed, it's not readable enough which should be the most important thing in a logo. I think I'll be going for either 1, 5 or 15.
