Former Liverpool captain Tommy Smith has died at the age of 74.

The Anfied legend had been battling dementia and had been suffering from ill health.
His daughter Janette Simpson told the Liverpool Echo: "Dad died very peacefully in his sleep shortly after 4.30pm today at Green Heyes Nursing home in Park Road, Waterloo, Crosby.

Shanks main man,the fella could drive in nails with his forehead ,a proper stalwart. As a youngster I can still remember the noise of unbridled euphoria from our street when he hammered that beautifully headed goal beyond the despairing grasp of the Monchengladbach keeper.

    RIP old fella.
