I cannot see a general chat for football related Championship stuff and gave up looking after a few pages. Feel free to merge if needed. QPR have announced that we are following the Brentford model of having a B team. We will still compete in the Under 23s stuff but we are going to have a B team and play other B teams around Europe. I guess it's a bit different to Brentford as they don't have their own academy whereas we do, and we are building a new training ground for that exact reason. Full article QPR can today (Tuesday) confirm that we will formally launch a B Team fixture programme for the 2021/22 season. The bespoke programme will see the B Team play against a range of EFL, non-league & European clubs, as well as other B teams. The initiative has been launched in an attempt to expedite the pathway of academy players to the first team and to provide competitive experiences for first-team players who are in need of match minutes. The club will continue to participate in the U23 Professional Development League and have also entered into the Premier League U23 Cup. Les Ferdinand, QPR director of football, said: “When I was first appointed, the owners made it clear that a key component of their vision was to increase the number of young players making the transition from our academy to the first team. We are extremely satisfied with the progress made on that front and we see this project as a way to build on that success. “The games will provide our young players with more of a first-team experience, playing against senior teams in a competitive environment. We feel that these experiences form a vital part of their development. “We will also utilise the games to ensure that selected first-team players have an opportunity to remain in the best physical condition possible when called upon by Mark [Warburton] and his staff.” The club have reached agreement with Wealdstone FC to play fixtures at their stadium, Grosvenor Vale, and this will provide R’s fans with an opportunity to see the B Team in action. The flexible fixture programme will be organised to compliment the first-team schedule and further details will be shared via our media channels in due course.
Copying the Brentford model doesn't ensure you'll get Brentford success, there's a lot more ingredients?
QPR have started going about things the right way the last couple of years tbf, I think we're a couple of years behind their journey which is depressing.
I think that period of time where QPR had a transfer budget of about £3 did them a lot of good. Seems to have made them a lot more sensible
Yeah we had a really strict budget and wage cap. We had to work hard to shift the perception that we'll pay a ton of money for everyone. We rightly had a rep for that, as we were so bad. But having an embargo and working towards being sustainable (buy cheap, sell high etc) is beginning to work. We now have a group of players that want to be here and are all working towards the same goal. It's exciting at QPR again. But it doesn't happen over night and it's very hard to shift players on a higher wage, as they weren't good enough to be paid it so they know they need to stay.
Well the diggers are still idle at Canford School so our path of footballing self sufficiency is going to take a while yet!
It’s great to see fans back but unfortunately you get the idiots back too. Someone will be facing a long ban.
The Men Who Sell Football | Al Jazeera Investigations - YouTube An investigation into buying football clubs (focused on Derby County) and corruption that surrounds it.
I need to watch this. If there's serious evidence from it hopefully heads will roll Sent from my 6025H_EEA using Tapatalk
There's not much focus on the people at Derby, rather than the 1 man that Derby outsources the work to. Everyone else apart from him aren't really connected with Derby. The main corruption comes from the Cyprus government and the role some politicians play in taking payments to issue passports to convicted criminals.
Sky tearing into us again for booing the taking of the knee.... I'm pretty sure I heard boos at the FA Cup final, and a fair few other matches but never saw it as a headline on their website. If the knee is against all forms of discrimination, why are players happy to line their pockets with money from owners from China and UAE as well as taking big money deals from these countries which have concentration camps akin to the Holocaust. Token gestures are easy to do to make yourself look good. At least Mesut Ozil had the guts to speak up about it and take a financial hit.
Our young defender Ronnie Edwards has received a call up to England's Under 19 squad on the back of some impressive displays for 3 upcoming friendlies against France , Mexico & Belgium where he should play some part & will train with Premier League players will be a good experience / learning curve for him. Was a bit surprised to see him given the Number 2 shirt at the start of the season & home to Birmingham a few weeks back when he had the Bluenoses's front line in his back pocket Barry Fry said there were 18 Premier & Foreign scouts watching him , good / bad news for us as in he'll be on his bike to bigger & better probably end of the year but we'll be quids in for the process , but hey , it's Posh it's what we do balancing the books !
QPR are selling the lower tier of the school end (away) at a 30% less capacity. It's so that fans who are still worried about covid and want to socially distance can feel safe about coming back. Let's face it, there's no space at LR so it's the only way to do it. Good idea really. I wouldn't sit there though, I like to watch QPR with that edge of getting infected.
Pretty sure from when I was there hardly anyone sits in that stand anyway which is probably lucky for them in this circumstance, really.
Guess it will condemned like our old East stand was for about 3/4 years. We almost got promoted one season when it was shut - goodness knows what the Premier league would have thought of it!
