Sad to hear. Brilliant manager, responsible for really getting Liverpool back on track heading into the 21st Century.

    RIP, Gerard xxx

Hopefully Gerrard can win every piece of silverware available for him in Scotland (and maybe even the UEFA Cup :hmmm) as a fitting tribute to the manager who made him captain!

A truly superb manager and always came across as a thoroughly nice bloke.

Such sad news at a time when sad news seems to keep dominating us. RIP Gerard

Horrid news this. Always seemed a nice bloke and helped us end our barren period of trophies. That Alaves game is one of the most mental and memorable games I've seen with us. Shame he just couldn't get us over the line with the league back then too though.

    RIP Gerard.

Sad day for everyone connected to the club R.I.P. Gerard

  9. The fa cup final, the McAllister free kick and then that madness of a final.

What a grand finale that was.

    Great memories right enough

And the McAllister winner in the last seconds of the derby. :D

He modernised the club like Wenger did at Arsenal, and aside from that magnificent season, he should be remembered as one of our most important managers in getting the club out of the doldrums and reminding us all that LFC should be challenging for the major honours once more.

Hard to believe all that was 20 years ago, Christ. Memories we'll cherish forever. Thanks Gerard. Rest in peace.

The man that created the foundations to where we are now. Gutted.

Putting us back on the map with his treble season, getting us into the Champions League that led us to winning it, Mcallister free kick in the derby, giving us Steven Gerrard, getting the best out of Michael Owen, plenty of good memories that will never forget.

    R.I.P Gerard Houllier.
