Looking to get a new car and have a budget of around 10k. Looking for a smallish hot hatch and narrowed it down to the these two at the moment, although i'm happy to hear other suggestions. These are the two i'm currently looking at; http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201149433127337/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/golf/make/volkswagen/keywords/r32/radius/30/postcode/ta70hs/page/1?logcode=p and; http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201152437846085/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/clio/make/renault/postcode/ta70hs/page/1/keywords/200/radius/30?logcode=p Already viewed the R32 and loved the car but i'm a bit concerned about the fuel consumption as I do drive quite a lot. Which one would you get if you had the choice or would you get something different in that price range?
If only Ford produced the Fiesta RS Out of the two, i'd get the golf and the Clio looks horrible. But I wouldn't bother with the r32 either, just a big heavy slug. But then again, most hot hatches are nowadays.
I would love a Golf, but 21 mpg I am looking to buy a diesel Golf and on a good run should do about 50 mpg. Only want a black one and its proving harder than I thought
It's down to you at the end of the day. You can get a nice S-Line Audi A4 for 10k nowadays. Petrol version (TFSI) gives you: 200bhp, 149 mph AND an urban fuel economy of 26mph.
Golf GT TSI 1.4 pertol Turbo 172bhp and will easily do 42MPG Unless thats too slow for you, it should tick all the boxes. Either that or a Mini Cooper S Supercharged.
A Mini Cooper??!!? Then he can come and cut everyones hair afterwards whilst discussing fashion? FOCUS ST-3 bro.
Isn't the R32 slower than the GTI as it has 4 wheel drive? I'd for for the R32 purely because the Renault will be worth 50pence once you'd have it for a few years they aren't great for depreciation.
I've bought my wife a clio 200 to replace her Mini cooper s,i wasn't expecting much but i have to say its the best hot hatch i've ever driven, you can take absolute liberties with it and it just takes it,not torquey so you have to rev the nuts off it fuel economy is soso, we are averaging 24 mpg round the city, build quality is better then people think but obviously not in VW's class, great little car which i have more fun in than my Evo.
No Brainer between these two...The Golf R32 But I like Mercs so would take a peek at one of these...http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201150435991055/sort/priceasc/usedcars/fuel-type/petrol/body-type/coupe/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/transmission/automatic/model/c_class/make/mercedes-benz/page/4/radius/1500/postcode/tq13qy?logcode=p
I run a small fleet with S/E/G class's plus a Viano, all post 2005 and all in business use, apart from something in the A/C unit of the G class and a radio replacement in an E class (out of warranty but replaced free) we haven't had any problems...But I agree that if you go back to the 1998-2002 period Mercedes were absolutely terrible, and almost all of the problems electrical. A few years ago we tried to replace the Mercs with VW/Audi and Skodas...A complete disaster, the only VAG car's I'd ever consider would be Skoda Fabias!
