    Dear FF members,

    I'm used to playing 6 - a side normally, I thought I would be fine in a 11 a side.

I recently started playing 11 a side in Sunday league (CDM/CM). Recently I was in the starting 11, I was on for 20 mins, came off because I was out of breath and energy! No Stamina.

In order to build up stamina and continue running I thought I would do jogging outside football. However there's massive difference when I'm jogging with boots on grass and jogging with trainers on road.

In order to improve my stamina and last longer on the pitch. Is it better to jog on grass pitch with my football boots, or is it better to jog on the road?

Experience and advice would be much appreciated!

It doesn't really matter mate, it sounds like you just need to improve your fitness.

I'd go for some Fartlek training - it's tough but will improve your cardio fitness unlike any other form of running:

Also if you're out of breath after 20 minutes are you certain you don't have an underlying condition such as mild asthma? Worth investigation because taking a prescribed inhaler will also help no end.

If you live near a beach head for there, great for stamina and also easier on your joints and stuff, less likely to pick up injuries too.

Also getting pure fresh air in your lungs is an added bonus.
