Still think the Dutch are a bit shaky at the back so can see Austria making a game of this one.

Aye, penalty, he deliberately forced his studs down onto the top of the other players foot. Theres been a lot of that in the tournament.

Really missing the crowd atmosphere this tournament. When the game slows down for a breather the crowd usually make it interesting with singing. Its quiet.

Good counter attack and no offside.

In the second goal, the Austria players were all chasing the ball, like in a playground, when the Dutch player played it over the top.

VAR has been good in the Euro's , still well sketchy in Copa America .

The yellows for blatant diving have been good as well , hope this filters into all mainstream football from August onwards .

You wait until Qatar 2022 , it'll be the most corporate tournament ever staged for any sport .

It's actually nice seeing fans in a stadium enjoying football singing or not .

I think England's game was the most devoid of any crowd atmosphere though you have to be a member of the fan club & win a ballot I think to get tickets.

Solid win for the Dutch one of the better teams so far.

I am not sure 4 pts will be enough.

True - can see a few teams with one win and a draw .

    Wales/Switzerland
    Russia (draw with Denmark ?)
Teams in group E will get 4
And of course the Group of death .

4 points will definitely be enough. Last time there were two sides out of six who got 4 points in 3rd place, you're going to need five sides to get it this time for it not to be enough for someone. 3 points and a GD of 0 is probably a more realistic benchmark.

Unless Finland get something against Belgium on the final day, Group B's third place side won't have any more than 3 points. You're then looking at every other group having to have a third place side with 4 points, which is incredibly unlikely and requires so many results to fall in to place with no margin for error.

I here you. I am just looking at it from how table stands now. Easy to see after all 2nd round games. But Belgium will play weakened side probably so you just never know, Denmark v Russia draw. unlikely but not impossible. I can see Swiss beating Turkey.

    But I take your point.

All these things could happen, but if I put the potential results that would be required in an accumulator it'd be silly odds.

Denmark-Russia draw could happen, but Denmark looked really good tonight and will be at home again. Belgium should have enough regardless, in a neutral venue, it could happen but very much on the unlikely side of things.

Switzerland are probably a better side, but they're effectively playing away from home, and have had to travel from Baku to Rome and back to Baku to play 3 games in 8 days.

I think if the format continues like this going forward, 4 points will be seen as just a guarantee of progression to the last 16 without any real need to look at permutations.

    Not remotely convinced by Holland.

Think they've been incredibly lucky with who they've come up against so far, and obviously have another piss easy game vs North Macedonia up next.

As soon as they play a half decent side they'll be dispatched.

I know they won last night but I'm with @Kirby on the Netherlands. Austria were truly, truly terrible last night and any decent side would have beaten them 4 or 5 but the Dutch never really looked like doing that. The high line that Austria were playing was crazy and should have been a forwards dream and although it gave the Dutch their second, it shouldn't have been difficult to create 4 or 5 similar chances. They are certainly no Italy or France, that is for sure

    That’s a shame, N. Macedonia fraction off-side.

edit - hit the post too. Having a right old go.

edit, edit - Dutch inevitably take the lead.
