bear in mind insurance, engine size, insurance group etc...

Renault Clio 1.2, A very safe car, cheap on insurance and cheap to run, seen in my local 'Auto trader' for £750, 70,000 miles, Mot til december.

What was your first car, just to give me ideas!

There is already a first car thread in this forum, but I have a Renault Clio 1.2 and Im really pleased with mine. The insurance isn't bad and its cheap to run. Ive just put my daughter on the insurance too as she is learning to drive and it was only (I say only ) an extra £250

I would love a VW 1972 CAmper Van in baby blue, but with modern technology

As amusing and 'cool' as they are they are just simply crap. They are very unreliable and break down way to often. Unless you have thousands to spend on the costs of it constantly going wrong I wouldn't bother.

Id get a old banger for a year or 2 because the chances are if your a new driver your going to bump it or ding it into something or other.

Personally I dont think you can go wrong with a Ford Fiesa, mainly because if its old and cheap the chances are that something will go wrong with it. Luckily Fiesta are 10 a penny and you can get the parts dirt cheap from a scrappy.

Things like VW's the parts are harder to find and are dearer. But a clio isnt a bad option.

Like I said get a banger for a year or 2 and then look for an uprgrade.

You're right. There's a reason why there are so many Fiesta's and Corsa's on the road. They may be boring but they are bomb proof, cheap to insure, ultra reliable and when they do go wrong they are cheap to repair.

Said this the other day, Its well worth looking into buying a focus 1.6 zetec if you like the looks of one and can afford to spend 2k or over.
