A thread to remember the grounds that have been replaced by modern flat pack stadia.

A lot were to be honest but preferred them to these soulless stadia that we visit today. Personally that would be me finished with football if we ever left Elland Road. The Majeski is awful probably one of the worst for atmosphere at least Elm Park had a bit of summart about it.

Yeah i generally prefer proper football grounds over new stadiums, not many around these days sadly though. My main memory of Elm park is it was f*cking freezing, half empty and the locals threw bits of the crumbling terrace at us in the away end.

You're right that the madejski is f*cking terrible, only decent thing about it is the steeply banked stands, it's way to big for them though as Reading are basically the Wigan of the south. A small hardcore support and loads of JCL's that'll turn up in the premier league but not bother otherwise.

Have to say of all the clubs Reading's the one where i've noticed the most fans who "support" Reading + a big side. It's really strange behaviour.

A mate of mine is a Reading season ticket holder & bought me a ticket for their game at Forest years ago. We drank with the away fans before the game & there was no singing or banter. Inside the City Ground it was more like an wake. The worst bit it was a shocking 0-0 draw, I missed Leeds 6 QPR 1 for that.
