Come on people, here's your chance to show off your geographic skills and name an island. There's some 7,000 of these little floaty things in the Philippines alone and 1,500 in Indonesia and the Bahamas so repetition should be kept to a minimum. If you name an island that you've been to, a comment on how nice it is wouldn't go amiss either.. So, the ball is rolling.... Barbados. Haven't been, heard it used to be nice, especially for the cricket.
I am guessing I use an S to carry on..? Scarecrow - believe it or not there is an island called Scarecrow! Its in Michigan, USA
Good one, CF. I wonder if any crows live on it? Woodlark, known to its inhabitants simply as Woodlark or Muyua, is an island in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea. Thhe Indonesians wanted to use the island for the production of palm oil but the good people of Papua New Guinea, or PNG to their friends, told them that the computer says no..
Isle of Man, cats wid nee tails and three legged jake the pakes, and a huge massive water wheel at Laxey http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laxey_Wheel
I've been to the Isle Of Man. There's a lot of slate which makes the island very grey. Negros. The third largest island in the Philippines. The inhabitants of the island are called Negrenses, or Negretos. Luis Suarez probably isn't allowed there..
Yakushima, Japan. The island is nearly a million square kilometres so probably has a population of millions. The island draws more than 50% of it's electricity from it's surrounding tidal system, and surplus power has been used to produce hydrogen gas in an experiment by Kagoshima University. The island has been a test site for Honda's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle research. (There are no hydrogen cars stationed on the island but electric cars are run by the municipality.)
Ibiza. Party central, or at least it used to be, now it seems every island accessible by cheap airlines from the UK falls under that category. I went there in 1984 just when it was all starting and the madness was in it's infancy. Great holiday..
No-Name, is an island located in Forest County, Pennsylvania, and is part of the Allegheny Islands Wilderness.
Tobago, in the West Indies. I went there a few years ago and although there's not much to do and the place isn't safe outside of the resort, the snorkelling and boat trips that you can do are amazing. It was here I saw my first turtle whilst snorkelling - off turtle beach as it happens, who'd have thought it?
