When I turn on my computer, the power button illuminates as it should.. I can hear the battery running, but the screen remains black. I've tried googling it, but all the steps I've been recommended to take, doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
A lot more info required mate. Is it a laptop or a desktop with a separate monitor? Is it a totally black screen or the POST screen? How old? What OS?
Have you opened it up to check on the inside? I had some issues with my XPS before Christmas, it turns out the latitude & XPS share the same faulty hinge which eventually cracks and displaces the charging port & a few other bits, which caused some issue with the SSD and the screen wouldn't come on despite the charging port being resolved. In the end, I resolved it by loosening the screws around it, giving it a jiggle and screwing it back down.
Try a different HDMI/VGA cable. Try a different monitor/screen. If you have onboard graphics, bypass your graphics card and try plugging the monitor into the onboard VGA/HDMI port.
It's a laptop? Shine a torch on the screen and see if there is an image. The backlight might have gone.
