It's not a massive surprise to be honest. Jessops lost a lot of business from me by simply not holding stock of the higher end equipment I use. Whilst it is always cheaper for me to buy from an online distributor, I would have bought from my local Jessops has they held the stock; unfortunately "sorry sir, we're not scaled for that level of equipment" was a frequent cry. So far as the lower end kit is concerned, I think the casual camera buyer is dead. Why pay for a dedicated compact camera when you've got a smartphone which, although not providing the same quality of image, does a good enough job of taking pictures at parties etc.
Bought mine from Amazon marketplace as it was just a small retail shop flogging it under the amazon umbrella and cheaper than anywhere else.
