The great Klinsmann experiment in the USA has come to a close: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...nt-us-soccer-parts-ways-with-jurgen-klinsmann We've had some good moments, uncovered some good talent, but not enough forward progress for the FA. Where to next for both parties?
Bruce Arena in discussions to succeed him. No better way to take the national team to the future than to turn the clock all the way back to 2002
Klinsmann cannot really have any complaints tbh, you could forgive the loss v Mexico but to be hammered like they were against Costa Rica is proof that his time had come to an end. Not convinced at Bruce Arena returning though, getting older now, has not been as successful in the last few seasons. Surely US Soccer should be looking at a younger American coach at an MLS club like Peter Vermes or Pablo Mastroeni as opposed to bringing Arena back.
Hope Cobi Jones, The Gooch, and Kasey Keller are ready! http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...ena-named-head-coach-of-us-mens-national-team
Yup, it's a 'right the ship' hiring of someone who knows how to navigate qualifiers. If we get through, he'll keep going through the World Cup. Technical Director will be the key hire.
A German coaching the Three Lions? You really want that ? /i So, Jürgen is out of the USMNT. Can't say that I am surprised. I was surprised when he left his Germany job unfinished after reaching third place at the WC 2006. But afterwards it was good that he made this decision because we all know that the real coach of the German Team was already Jogi Löw back then. Klinsmann was more the "figurehead" . Jürgen is no coach for a club team (he was pretty shite when in charge at Bayern) so he has to search a new vacant job for National-coach or he "ends" as TV expert.
Potentially 45 minutes away from a sacking. Don't think he's very popular in South Korea and they're currently losing to the Saudi's in the Asia Cup.
Be even more popular with you guys though as it will mean Son comes back early. EDIT: Just as I write that Korea score.
