I'd like to know where they are getting the info from tbh. "Götze has been open in his attempts to attract Liverpool's attention" ? When and where would be interesting, as far as I know he has said nothing about a move to any club, including Dortmund for that matter. I'm not saying that there is no possibility of it happening but I'd like to see or hear some facts/quotes etc as all I'm seeing is speculation atm.
As with most of our big transfers, journalists like Barrett, Joyce, Ben Smith, Pearce, etc. are often given info from the club. I've rarely seen them wrong on transfers tbh.
They're not getting it from BILD, that's for sure... Srsly, I'm pretty sure Joyce gets his info from someone very senior at the club. He may struggle for it in the future...
They're not getting it from anywhere in the German media that I can find. TZ is now saying that " Göetze may well have played his last international as a Bayern player, his good friend Mats Hummels has rolled out the black and yellow carpet and it looks very likely that Mario will take up the offer". It goes on to say that Götze "Wants to cut short his Bayern career and return to his Dortmund comfort zone". No idea if there is anything in it but the UK and German media are printing wildly differing stories.
People like Barrett & Joyce get insider info from the club itself, & the only transfer that they've got wrong in recent memory was Balotelli who was a last minute change of heart who even Rodgers wasn't expecting to sign. Ben Smith who worked for the BBC until recently gets stuff on loads of players & is very reliable. At the very least LFC are well in the race or Gotze.
Just took a look at Gruijic and how he is getting on but he has only played 3 games since we loaned him back. And Red Star have only had 5 games. Begs the question, what exactly was the point in loaning him back? They already have the league won also. Seems idiotic. We aren't exactly flooded with quality in midfield after all.
We should have refused tbh. Doubt he'd have let the move fall through over it and he'd still get his medal at the end. The standard of the league is low and they are barely even playing.
I doubt it would have anything to do with the move falling through, more to do with Liverpool wanting a happy fulfilled player rather than one with regrets that felt forced to move before he was ready.
They had 8 league games remaining in the season... so we have basically lost half a season of development for the player. Let's not pretend it isn't silly from us, considering we were also in the midst of an injury crisis at the time of the signing.
Lmao you cant be serious, he's 19 ffs there's is plenty of time for development, what would be REALLY silly from us would be to take him away from the experience of a championship winning side and to deny him the joy of celebrating with his team mates, I certainly wouldn't be happy nor would I give my all for a team that done that to me.
The experience of being in a title winning side gives a hunger to do it again, we need that hunger in players mate
They were 20+ points ahead of 2nd place with 8 games left iirc... He was already part of a title winning side. He'd been that sides key player for over two thirds of the season at this point. Come to your new club and experience playing in the Premier League, FA Cup and in Europe. As well as training alongside better players. Much greater experience than playing the grand total of 3 Serbian league games in 3 months! Absolute waste of time.
Only seen it in the daily star tbh. Seen the DM are going with it now. Dortmund fans don't seem happy with it at all.
If he goes he goes tbh. I'd be gutted if we sold Müller or Costa or Lewandowski but I'm fairly relaxed about Götze, he has been injured for months and not really settled in anyway. As for where he goes I would rather he joined Dortmund simply because it would be good for the BL to keep him.
It depends though, he left them for a rival, sometimes fans won't forget that, and won't let him forget that either.
