Tom Holmes joins Luton for an undisclosed fee and is loaned back for the rest of the season. Not unexpected and to be honest, even if we weren't in the situation we are in, I wouldn't begrudge him the move.
Oxford win the race for Goodwin - £400k plus add-ons. Not bad considering he only cost us £20k a year ago and has only been decent for about 3-4 months. He'll be a loss, but that offer really is just too good to turn down.
So the first one out the door is the vice-captain and a Reading fan. Makes it clear that anyone could be leaving us this window. I'm not too bothered about this move in isolation, but am about what this means and what could happen next. As you say, can't begrudge him the move, as he is moving to a Premierleague club rather than likely playing in League Two next season (if we make it to next season). Especially when last season he was linked to top Championship/lower Prem clubs. His form had dipped a lot at the start of this season, but since coming back into the side he has been much better. And at least we have him back for the rest of the season. Nelson Abbey has rejected a similar move to Luton. Although sounds like there are many interested clubs so he'll likely be gone too. That one will hurt the most as he has very high potential and you can see with our CEO taking control of transfers to get money in quick (without involving the Director of Football or Manager) that sell-on clauses or performance based clauses are most likely going to ignored.
It's easy money. He has been brilliant this season, but he's been good for 4-5 months. That some of our fans are crying blue murder over it is laughable.
From what I have heard Nelson is 100% against leaving, it would really have to be something special for him to go. He's at a very ealry stage of his career and knows regular first team football will continue his development, not sitting in a reserve/U21 side. And he is also a mad RFC fan and wants to stay to fight for our survvival.
Couldn't he just do what the other lad has done - go and then come back on loan? He'll probably be doing more to save the club that way as well.
He's in his first year of playing regularly and he probably wouldn't get that at a higher side next season. He seems to have his head screwed and won't just move for money. He may get forced to move though.
Good signing , always scores goals at this level & if him & May hit it off you could have a good 2nd half of the season , there's usually 1 team who comes from nowhere to gatecrash the play offs .
They’ve got allot of points to make up - 13 I think. Top 6 are quite bunched together so will take some run
19 and Michael Appleton is our manager, not a chance. Should hopefully have enough to stay up now though.
Blackett Taylor signed from Charlton, 6 month loan deal, then becomes a permanent deal in the summer, on a 3 year deak, heard we have paid 300000 pound for the loan deal. Is he wirth it Charlton fans.
We signed Josh Harrop yesterday and are set to sign Liam Kinsella permanently and a Championship defender on loan before our game against Derby on Saturday. No idea who the defender is.
