Signed on 3 and a half year contract for £1.5m from Stoke City. We've been slapped with that one i reckon. Dont rate him at all. Be interesting to see who laws drops now from the centreback spots and who he offloads. Can see at least one CB leaving Burnley now.

My first choice to get booted would be Donkey Caldwell

Decent enough defender and the price is quite reasonable. Rarely got a look in with Abdoulaye Faye and Shawcross being untouchable, and now with Robert Huth coming in, Collins/Higginbotham can play centre half.. seems like the right move for all involved.

Good for a few goals in a season (scored like 10 in our promotion season!), best of luck to him!

Nah me neither, all about planning for the championship next season really. The club will never admit to that but you'd have to be a blind man not to see it.

Pissing in the wind thinking we have any hope of stopping up now

Got to agree on getting rid of Caldwell, and if rumors are to believed Carlisle might be on his way out. Both are as mistake prone as the other and wouldn’t mind if either left, Carlisle had a shocker yesterday btw. But we are going to have to get rid of some deadwood soon or else we’ll end up in a financial mess which is what we’ve been trying to avoid all season.

Would like to see a defensive duo of Cort/Bikey to start with, with Edgar as cover

Thinking about it tho signing Cort might cement Bikeys place in midfield, hmm we’ll have to see I suppose. Would be just as happy with Cort and Edgar with Bikey in midfield.

agree with Liam, he's still well thought of by most of our fans due for his efforts in our promotion season, although other than the Carling Cup it's difficult to see him making any future starts with Shawcross, Faye, Huth, Higginbotham, Collins, Sonko etc in front of him. If the worst happens for Burnley then he's a very decent player to have in the Championship for anyone and also a real goal threat from corners at that level (likewise if we went down!). In the Premiership he always looked like he needed a very strong character and leader alongside him - Abdoulaye Faye walked him through the start of last season when we were finding our feet and, very strangely, Pulis was opting for Cort over Shawcross in the opening months.

He's tremendous in the air, but I can't quite believe people keep spending this kind of money on him. He was always very dodgy positionally in the lower leagues, and though he's upped his game since then, he is nowhere near Premier League standard. Even if Carlisle's in poor form, I think if I was a Burnley fan I'd sooner persevere with him.

One of his main weaknesses is his reluctance to tackle, he has a tendancy to stand off or he gets beaten very easily sometimes. Probably the reason why he has such a clean discaplinary record.
