Some of us saw straight through @Tomohawk disgraceful attempt to trick everyone and put a different answer for No.1 instead.
I even did that on clue 1 and then on clue 2 decided it can't be the actual answer lol. (Based on clue 1)
Submitted an answer for all of them. Looks like my gamble to guess the answer to 3 on clue one may have paid off, although the third clue makes me doubt myself. @Tomohawk should be ashamed of himself for the sneaky traps he laid in the early clues for 1 and 2, although I think I avoided falling for them...
I've taken a punt on 8 based on the final clue. A certain word is a massive hint. EDIT: Whoops - got confused between 4 and 8. I took a punt on 4 because of the last clue. On 8 the last clue was the confirmation on what I suspected - but I'm still not 100% convinced I'm right.
Put me in the “what the hell is number 8” group as well Jumped in too early on 1 as well Annoyed about 2 - if I had thought about it I would have got it on the 1st clue.
It's a problem we all have at some point in our lives Bonus point for the fish And don't worry to everyone who is struggling with No.8. I have the answers, and I don't even know what it is Oh and I am coming clean now before the reveal later (and presuming the PM @Lugna rambler has sent is about this as well as I haven't checked the latest PMs yet) but there is a very minor error in one of the clues of which I will confirm later. However, I can tell you that I realised this a clue or 2 back and have since spent the last couple of days working out the best strategy to dig in and double down on this and I can assure you that is what I will be doing
Time for me to face the music with my very minor error but more importantly time to find out who knew who my groups were...... Round 9 Who Are We? 1. Who Are We? We are an all male band formed in the 1960s in Liverpool We were managed by Brian Epstein We were the first ever act to have their 1st three recordings go to No.1 in the UK charts If you have ever crossed the Mersey, you would have heard one of our songs Some might say, we’ve never walked alone We are Gerry & the Pacemakers 2. Who Are We? We are an American band formed in Aberdeen We were formed in the late 80s but our mainstream breakthrough didn’t come until the 90s We have sold 75 millions records worldwide We are generally renowned as the band that brought Alternative Rock to the mainstream We disbanded in 1994 when our lead singer sadly took his own life We are Nirvana 3. Who Are We? We are a family group from Ireland We like to mix mainstream pop rock with traditional Irish music We played at the 1994 World Cup We have all received MBEs for our services to music and charity We do sometimes get a little breathless We are The Corrs 4. Who Are We? We are a group of school friends who formed our band in 1985 We didn’t sign to a record label until 1991 and then took another 2 years to release our debut album Maybe we were pioneers of online music downloads? We have been nominated for 17 Brit Awards but never won but that’s ok as we have won 6 Grammys Watch us as we have been known to creep around We are Radiohead 5. Who Are We? We formed in 1997 having met at university and since then we have made some big fat noises Our big break came in the year 2000, a year we won multiple awards and were nominated for many others We polarise the opinion of music fans more than most other artists We’ve already headlined Glastonbury 4 times and fancy it again We do love a piano We are Coldplay 6. Who Are We? We are a manufactured boy band created in the 1990s We have been pretty successful with 12 UK number 1 singles and 9 UK number 1 albums We had a bit of a break between 1996 and 2005 and initially returned one man down Our dance routines were almost as famous as our songs We performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics We are Take That 7. Who Are We? We were an All American, all female group who found fame in the 60s We were generally renowned as the top act of Motown Records We were partly named after our lead singer until she left in 1970 We have never had more than 4 members at a time but 10 different singers have formed the group at different times We are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame We are The Supremes 8. Who Are We? We are an English band who formed in 1998 Our self titled debut album went triple platinum in the UK We are very different to anything that has come before or after Based on the titles of some our tracks, our manager must have been a fan of 70s and 80s action films Do we really exist? We are Gorillaz 9. Who Are We? We are a manufactured 5 piece boy band formed in the 90s Our debut track wasn’t a hit in America but it was still chosen as the NBA’s theme tune We were very nearly given “Hit Me Baby One More Time” as our track but it went to someone else in the end We are currently on our 3rd comeback but are currently operating with just 3 members We love a dance routine and definitely got the feelin’ We are Five 10. Who Are We? We are an American rock band formed in 1980s LA We released our self titled debut album in 1984 but it wasn’t until our 2nd album a year later that we found our now familiar funk rock style Despite having been recording for 15 years previous, our most successful album came in 1999 We have a drummer renowned as one of the best at his craft We were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 We are Red Hot Chili Peppers So clue 1 of the first group is slightly incorrect as Gerry & the Pacemakers were actually formed in 1959. I have it on good authority (I don't really) that they formed in late December 1959 but they definitely didn't start recording until the 1960s which is basically the same as being formed. I think that is Tory level doubling down and as with the Tories, if you're wrong, you're getting nothing irrelevant of my mistake But I do apologise for the slight error. Moving on, the scores are coming......
Pretty impressive getting Gerry and the Pacemakers on the 1st clue when it turned out the clue was actually wrong. I waited till clue 3 and still picked the wrong one
