So far... As voted for by the fans!

    LINEUP111588530213251.png

    Subs (aka the nearly list)

Pepe Reina - Okay so literally no other keeper bar Ali got a vote but plenty of honourable mentions gives him the spot on the bench.
Jamie Carragher - A close runner up to Sami and Virg gives the club legend and Istanbul hero an inclusion here
Dietman Hamann - Another Istanbul hero included after a couple of votes for best CM pairing
Lucas Leiva - A cult hero claims a vote from @Redpelt earning the Brazilian servant a spot in the squad. UNLUCKEEE
Steve McManaman - @SALTIRE has earned his mate Macca a run out for the best PL squad
Fernando Torres - If his blistering form of the mid-late 00s had continued and he hadn't left in such controversial circumstances, El Niño may well have displaced Fowler or Suarez in the best XI
Bobby Firmino - "The best in the world" but not quite good enough to make our "best" XI. Sure to be a club legend, our number 9 still has plenty of time to make his case for our best XI

An absolutely incredible squad that would have decimated the world of football for years should they have miraculously co-existed in our side.

I'm aware this may be controversial due to my simplistic voting criteria that only enabled a 4-4-2. Would anybody else have made your XI should the voting have been different?

    State your cases!

Fantastic side. I'd have Didi over Xabi as I made clear in the CM thread but it's really close tbf. I'd mainly have him in that side just for a bit of balance/protection!

Great team. All my first choice picks.

I’d swap some of the subs though and certainly have mascherano on the bench and also Owen.

You enough to comment it seems

It’s the Liverpool sub section Chris - you cant moan when the threads are in here as that’s what it’s for. Just don’t view it, it’s simple. Now back to the cave you go you closet Evertonian

'Unbelievable': remembering Luis Suárez's Liverpool goal v Newcastle

Decent read published today in light of the topic. That goal sums Liverpool up during those years.

Enrique was decent on occasion but never up to the standard necessary. The ball he played for Suarez was a lump up the field with the team behind 2-1 to a fairly naff Newcastle team. Suarez made gold out of it though, because that is the player he was.

He was just an unbelievable player. Hard to imagine I'll see a more talented player in a Liverpool shirts.

Good team by the way. All my picks made it except Bobby.

What a side that would have been :eeek

  12. I think we all pulled a fast one to get mane and salah in so it is a bit unbalanced but vvd would make it work largely.

on mature reflection hyypia beside vvd in this team might be an issue but we've not had anyone quick as vvd and gomez to put there and hyypia deserves his place big time.

He’s certainly the most talented player to play for us that I seen live. Just a shame his behaviour tarnished his time here.

Maybe it’s just me but I feared Torres way more than Suarez during our encounters

Torres in his pomp whilst wearing the red of Liverpool was 'arguably' the best striker on the planet ,he was simply unplayable. I'd actually take him over Suarez ,because the mere suggestion of a Fowler and Torres link up in attack is just mouthwatering. I think some fans forget just what a truly extraordinary player Fernando was. I think if he had remained with us we would be speaking in the revered tones reserved for the likes of Dalglish and Rush. When he finally left for Chelsea it wounded me more than any player had ever done ,before him or indeed after.

If I had compiled the side ,I'd have definitely found a place for Steve Finnan 'on the bench at the very least' and the thought of Virgil playing alongside Dan Agger would have been tempting enough to seriously mull over omitting The Big Finn from the first team.
