Shearer, Premier League’s all-time goal-scorer and a league winner with Blackburn Rovers, believes that Liverpool are far from being the English top-flight’s greatest, albeit terming them a phenomenal side. Jurgen Klopp-coached Liverpool has been frequently compared to Arsenal’s invincibles following their unbeaten run in the English top-flight so far, and according to Shearer, Liverpool’s need far greater achievements to called the greatest in the history of Premier League.
They do, you have to do it over several seasons to be classed as the greatest. We've been superb for two seasons now, another 2 maybe and we'll be up there.
I guarantee that this season will see the current Liverpool team in the discussion for a long time, at the very least.
Arsenals invincibles keep gettin mentioned when this season is discussed. They drew 12 games when going invincible. How'd they get on in the champions league? Have Arsenal ever won a European trophy? Not in the EPL era. The invincibles wouldn't have finished 2nd last season, with their paltry 90 points. And surely an invincible team is one that is all conquering. On all stages. Not just some side wins the English league. A champions league or two wouldn't hurt. Theyve won dick all. Invincible me arse. It was a decent unbeaten run they had, but they still dropped a load of points. Loads more then Liverpool, have dropped in 2 seasons.
nobody has mentioned City in all this. City might have won the league with 100 points but we mullered then in CL and they failed in FA cup that year. But nobody recalls that. Same for arsneal nobody recalls anything but invincible record. Thats what records are. You get the pot you had a great time as fans and people who are not fans just recall the record most We were on for 101 points before this stuff occurred. Nobody will recall the ridiculous 26-1-0 record prior to watford game really. This will be covid-19 year but I won't care, we have won it in all but name and will eventually snag it. why? cos you can be sure if people try cancelling an entire season without there being a major war and players all gong to it then there will be recourse to the law. A lot fo clubs will, not just LFC have a case. It'll be very messy so this is why uefa are even trying to figure if they can play 1 legged QF and SF and final for CL. Clubs like west ham are motivated out of self interest to call for no relegation and cancel the entire thing, thats their prerogative but tell that to bournemouth or leeds
