WHY Manchester City will be crowned Champions of Europe this season 1 Erling Haaland is a special footballer. He is the ultimate penalty box finisher. Haaland is not being asked to be heavily involved in our build up play, the Norwegian beast just has to be clinical nearer to goal. He looks set to break all Premier League and Champions League goal scoring records. When you have a world-class and unstoppable goal machine, being assisted by the creative talents like De Bruyne, Silva, Grealish, Foden and Mahrez you just win. We are not just a one-man team though. Goals are coming from everywhere, and from off the bench. We now have the answer for every low block and counter attack we will face. 2 This current squad is full of mentality monsters, who will not capitulate in the big moments, but instead will show improved game management and concentration in the decisive minutes. Pep has yet again evolved his tactics too this season. I also trust his team selection implicitly now. 3 Physically we are approaching a new peak, covering and running more distance as an organised unit, pressing harder for possession better than any team. Being the fastest, strongest and hungriest squad in Europe gives us that needed edge in every match up. 4 We keep the ball better than any other team, but now we are converting our dominance into goals every week. We always could outplay teams, but now we are ruthless. We are attacking more direct and vertically now, getting the ball to Haaland more quickly. 5 We will have amassed a large points advantage by January in the Premier League, allowing us to rotate our squad, keeping our players fresh for the business end of the season. Last season we could not afford to take our foot off the pedal even to the very last gameweek. 6 This is the best squad rebuild since Alex Ferguson's Manchester United from the 1990s and 2000s. Club legends like Kompany, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Aguero have all been successfully replaced. You cannot say the same for any of our rivals like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea. The new signings have settled in so quick. Our depth of solid defensive options is also very impressive, no longer our Achilles heel. This has been without a doubt, Pep's most important transfer window at our club. 7 Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are weaker this season.
Doesn't matter how good you are tbf. This is the CL, come the knockout stage against a top side, one bad day and you land on your arse.
You Brits and your Crowns Valid reason But they were also rather good the seasons before and didn't win. Anyway, I don't think they'll win. Have no reasons why they won't win but I'm a traditionalist in football So I'd be happy when these beloved traditions like PSG and ManCity failing to win the CL will continue.
What about PSG? Or, heaven forbid, Barça? Real, Liverpool & Chelsea are weaker than last season but I strongly disagree about Bayern. Mané is proving to be an apt replacement to Lewandowski. Players look annoyed at last season's CL exit to Villarreal and want to make things right. And also, they have a proper winter break which will allow players to make closure with the World Cup. Less league games, no league cup without mentioning fixture congestion due to HM's passing. But yeah, they sure belong in the favourites bracket. Bayern, City, PSG for me (in that order).
Something's up this season, mein Herr. Less laziness, club seems to be properly run for the 1st time in, er well, history. Not saying it's a given but certainly a step in the right direction.
Watch us bow out to some shit side like Dortmund with a shit player scoring the winner like Modeste now that I've posted this.
that's for sure now. At least Modeste is french, so should be a small comfort for you re Shit side: You could've also say Bayer Leverkusen (if they make it out of the group stage, though)
I’m not even sure that’s down to mentality… I don’t think there was enough time for it to even be a factor! We should have absolutely buried them in the first leg though, so many wasted chances.
