I don't think any of us thought we'd see the day we have our own forum on FF As we can be as self-loving as we want to now without the need to take the rest of the division into account.. What are your top 3 most memorable Cherries games you've seen live? No limit on when, where or what competition. For me: 1. Swansea 1-2 AFCB - 07/08 The most mental away end celebration I've ever been part of. We looked dead and buried against the champions elect, and up pops Kuffour and Partington! 2. Dagenham 0-1 AFCB - 08/09 Molesley. Dire match in East London but a hoof from our assistant manager Jason Tindall set up Molesley who scored a peach. Bedlam on the open terrace, sparked the Great Escape II. 3. Chesterfield 2-3 AFCB - 04/05 Last minute Fletch winner... think we won 11 away games that season but still didn't make the play-offs. Honourable mentions: Reading 3-3 AFCB x2. Carlisle 1-1 AFCB (wrong reasons) Birmingham 0-8 AFCB Fulham 1-5 AFCB (best away end I've been in) I imagine some of the fans on here will go for Brentford 1-2 AFCB, Fulham 3-1, etc... sadly before my time but love watching the highlights.
Dagenham away.... Tindall.....MOLESLEY!!! *** ***ING YES *** ****ME **** YES The first time I really believed we were going to pull it back and survive, and the most mental goal celebrations ever for me. Chester away to (effectively) seal survival and effectively relegate Chester in our place. Pitman freekick in the opening minutes and a Robinson tap in. They're the biggest two. When a game comes down to winning or your club going bust...it's certainly memorable. Others include.. Carlisle away when we were relegated. Worked so hard to give ourselves a chance or survival with an incredible run of form, but thanks to Cheltenham unexpectedly beating Bristol City (I think) our 1-1 draw wasn't good enough and we went down. A little more recently, the L1 playoff semi up at Huddersfield, a night full of twists and turns and contrasting emotions. Tranmere away on the last day to celebrate promotion to the Championship. Missed out on the top spot trophy thanks to that crazy missed penalty and counter attack situation at Brentford/Donny. Then had to drive around Birkenhead and find the local 'Nick to collect my mate who'd managed to get himself arrested pre match for being too pissed... Interesting day..! 8-0 up at Birmingham will stay with me forever. Rantie even scored twice! Basically every game in the promotion run-in this season!
2-0 v Rotherham in 197 to win the third division title. I'd just started watching us, so thought it was normal to see success! That Daggers game! Amazing. 5-2 v Lincoln in the Play-off final in Cardiff.
1) Swansea City Away match in 07/08. The sheer ecstasy of what we went there and did in injury time. Probably the most mental I've ever gone at a Bournemouth game. 2) Middlesbrough Home 14/15. The style, quality and superiority really shone through against one of the best sides in the division. Very satisfying. 3) Seeing as the Daggers game has been mentioned three times already, I'll go with Chester away in 08/09 It was us or them, thankfully, it was us. Special mentions to: Tranmere (H) 12/13 - Eddie's first game back. They were flying, we were in the bottom 4, the rest is history. Carlisle (A) 07/08 - So so close to pulling it off another great escape. 1,400 off Chezzers on that terrace, most sobbing at full time. Including me. Charlton (A) 14/15 - That feeling and the noise that erupted from the away ends when that Sheffield Wednesday goal went in. Spine tingling.
1) Huddersfield 3 AFCB 3 (lost on penalties) - A game that really did have everything. Great goals, drama, a red card, penalties...it was exhausting to watch. 2) AFCB 5 Lincoln 2 - Such an accomplished performance against a team that did a number on us at home only a few weeks before. Also that Purches goal when he ran the entire length of the pitch - majestic stuff. 3) Charlton 0 AFCB 3 & AFCB 3 Bolton 0 - Two great performances to cap off a truly amazing season. An honourable mention to Carlisle 1 AFCB 1 - As has been said by many people above, we gave everything in that run-in and just fell short. Gutting. Huge crowd too, I remember the Carlisle keeper (Westwood) doing a double take when he came up our end to start the game.
Losing 3-0 at Accrington was the real dagger in the heart of what had really happened to our club and what a sorry state it was in. Losing 2-0 at home to Barnet the next month, I nearly packed it all in then and there. I didn't, and the came the good times. Grimsby at home, final home game 08/09, unbelievable scenes as we managed to stay up. Eddie's first game back, Orient at home, winning 2-0 and just feeling the buzz back in the place. It was if everyone there knew something special was about to happen. Obviously not this special though. Beating Reading and Leeds 3-1 and 4-1, respectively, in 2013/14. Destroying supposedly 'superior' clubs who've looked down on us for years. Everything about last season, it was all quality. Away games that were good for the right reasons include going mental at Aldershot, Torquay and Walsall in more innocent days. Going to Shrewsbury and losing 4-1, people trying to get themselves thrown out at half time so they didn't have to put up with the dross we were serving up. Fulham away last year, easily the best atmosphere I've ever known. Nearly 2k, which all seemed like 18-50 year old blokes, all stood up having a whale of a time. Cracking day out from start to finish. Going to Grimsby on a Friday night, being diverted via Doncaster and Scunthorpe on the way due to a tree on the line near Sheffield. Getting there at half time, in -4 degrees, but a last minute leveller sparks wild celebration. All of the bad times, makes it all worthwhile.
