Messi is the best player in the world but 3rd when it comes to earnings from salary and endorsements. See infographic listing highest paid players in the world: ow.ly/jdpMC

31 international goals in 77 appearances is indeed shite. Just 3 goals behind Maradona in 14 less appearances. 7 WCQ goals for 2014 in 9 matches. Absolutely useless he is.

I think Argentina should drop him as that kind of record is just not acceptable. It's not as if he is going to go on and become Argentinas top goal scorer ever probably before he is 28.

Noticed he scored last night in a 3-0 win. He only got the one though so it is now 32 in 78 matches and 8 WCQ goals in 10 matches. Absolute rubbish.

Just read that if Messi scores tomorrow against Celta Vigo then he will have scored in 19 consecutive La Liga matches and therefore scored against every opponent in the league in a row. 29 goals in his last 18 league games.

That is an absolutely incredible record if he were to get it...absolutely incredible and the epitome of consistency.

Best player the world has ever seen, no doubt about that.

Apparently he's responsible for 23 of Barca's 74 points this season.

That table that showed where Barcelona would be without any of Messi's goals? I saw that, but that doesn't account for the fact someone else would score some.

The fact that he has the chance to score against every team in the league is ok, but I'll only be impressed when he does it against every team both times.

Until he scores an hat-trick in 10 consecutive games I'm just not convinced. He also has to come to Stoke on a cold Monday night and score 5 goals minimum.

    Goal for Messi.

19 league games in a row, against every other La Liga side consecutively.

Remarkable achievement. He seems to be on a mission to break every record going.

If a player scores in say 8 matches on the bounce then that is a brilliant run....... 19 FFS is computer game stuff.

It's obscene. He is the most clinical player I have ever seen.

Noticeable in his absence last night.

The fact that Barcelona look almost ordinary without him speaks volumes.
