Looking like the easiest National League to date?

Two tinpotters back at their level, if not one step higher than historically and those coming up look like fodder (respectfully)

If we get promoted unless our owners finally spend some money (they want to sell the club) we will just finish bottom again.

Why obviously I want us to win the playoffs the prospect of another season like 2022/23 makes me wonder if promotion is even worth it why these owners are still in charge.

Personally think its a forgone conclusion southend win the league. We are nowhere near being able to challenge and i think everyone else is much of a muchness.

Going to be very open and would be surprised if anyone runs away with it - think we could have a Macclesfield 2018 scenario where one of the underdogs (outside of Southend and Oldham who should be favourites) wins it.

Certainly looks the weakest league on paper for a long time, and also pretty unattractive fixture-wise (been to Yeovil, Tamworth, Sutton and FGR multiple times before so no good new away at the moment)

I don’t want to get ahead of myself after the season we’ve just had (but I’m going to) I think if Beech takes up our manager roll we should be seriously aiming for the playoffs. I base that solely on our return of points under him and the fact that it probably will be the weakest league for some time. I am somewhat worried though that we’re not going to be able to replace Mitchell (as good as any midfielder we’ve ever had) Conway and Adshead, that have all gone back to their parent clubs. However, there’s no way we can start the season as badly again so should push us up to at least mid table next season, which I would also happily take to be honest

If our takeover is completed shortly by owners who have taken an Italian side from a step 5 to step 3 in two seasons it might mean Strevens gets some money to spend rather than peanuts like this season, he made us competitive and hard to beat so with a bit more quality we might be a surprise package. It’s the hope that kills you.

Seems to be a few falling into the aged old football snare.
"Well weve had a decent season no reason we should not push on scenario"

And we all know football has knack of dumping you on ya arse.
Good luck to all, Some of us are going to need it.

Having one of the top budgets has served you really well in the seasons prior to the last one so why not.

If our takeover isn't complete by whenever we start then I wouldn't be shocked to see another -10

Mad that you're still not taken over, not trying to scaremonger as my knowledge on this is scraping zero but I'd be seriously concerned by now.

Nah not buying this Southend propaganda, all things considered they've done excellent this year, like @Bedes said earlier, doesn't always translate into the new season.

If Southend sort the off field stuff I'd expect them to win it. They've been excellent despite their issues. I imagine fans of half the clubs are thinking a play off place is in reach. Should be an interesting season.
If our takeover completes in time for a decent summer (and it looks like it will) then I'm hopeful we'll be in the top 7.

That's Ron Martin for you. Must be one of the longest takeovers ever

You're dead right! Trying to unravel the web of deceit that Martin has spun is taking so much time for the consortium and the council to unravel. Council are doing a due diligence and hopefully get the info they need to give Ron a lease on the land at Fossetts and switch the charges from Roots Hall to Fossetts, takeover then completes and he is history.

Mid May will be a very nervous time.

I don’t think we had a top budget previously maybe top 7-10 budget, difference this time around is we have a manager who will know how to spend it and I’m not saying it’s going to be tons of money but you do need some to compete at the top end of this league.

Our budget is being cut by 20% for next season so we won't be at the top. Suspect we'll be just outside the Top 5. Think we'll have around £1.2m

We had £1.2m this season. Surely Southend will have at least double?
