When he arrived, Abramovich appointed a manager who had won things. I.e. Mourinho who had just won the treble including the CL. That pattern continued for the most part while Abramovich owned the club with Ancelotti and Conte for example. There were exceptions such as Avram Grant, Villas Boas and Sarri, and those experiments largely failed. Todd Boehly has arrived and seems intent on excluding manager's from choosing players they want for the squad, and appointing managers who are not proven at a big club and have won nothing. That includes Lampard who was a phenomenal player, but a failed manager.

Man City are probably the best template where they have appointed a manager who had already won multiple trophies, and who has an ongoing significant input on what players the club signs and what players they let go. Boehly seems intent on doing the opposite, and sadly it looks like a long time until the club start winning things again or even qualifying for the CL. How long will it be until the crowd want him out?
