Confirmed, loan deal with view to a permanant. Not very well liked by Burnley fans (just like Alexander wasn't). Good championship player, hopefully God will be able to get some prem quality out of him.

Doesn't seem to have progressed at Pompey, maybe not given a fair chance when he first joined? Adds numbers, and if we can get him back to his form at Preston then it won't be a bad signing.

Got a great international record! 1 in 1 isn't it :thumb haha. Can't deny he's a good finisher, just whether he's good enough to get into the positions to put them away.

Totally the opposite IMO, he can get in the positions and keep running all day but as soon as it comes to being in front of goal he panics and ends up missing.

Quite a good addition I reckon. He’s certainly the same if not better than what we’ve already got up front and if he does turn out to be a big flop we can just send him back as it’s only on a loan deal.

Not at the beginning but I think he was given enough chance in the end.

Might do well for Burnley. I dunno, we'll see.

Any of you fellow Clarets remember the free kick that he finished in front of the Jimmy Mc Stand? Was it Grezza that played the looped ball over? How times change!

Ye I think I know what you're on about, the one where Grezza chipped it up to him from a free kick and he just smashed it in?

I'd rather have Nugent on loan over Cousin who we got linked with from Hull City. Think if we can get the best out of him he'll be as good if not better than anything we've got.

Good deal this, only a loan deal to, so we haven't got much to lose.

was brilliant for PNE as you know.

From what I have seen of him so far at pompey I think he has been trying too hard and because of this it's all gone pear shaped.....

like a previous poster has said at the begginning of his time there he really wasn't given many chances to shine and because of this I feel he has not moved on to greater things with them yet. Strikers need to find their feet early or they will always tend to struggle.

it's also true that he has had plenty of chances now however and not taken them, he has missed some unbelievable sitters!

that said I think it's purely a mental thing with him at pompey and maybe he is destined to fail there now (or at least in his head he is).

like you say no risk from your side, a loan signing who could potentially become a legend for you, and if not you haven't lost anything.

just do me one favour though...... stop nicking all our bloody ex players and turning them into Burnley favourites will ya? it sticks in the throat! ;-)

If I recall Preston stole Nugent off us in the first place after we went after him at Bury. Just waiting for Neal Trotman to become a PNE favourite but he wont out at Southampron!

Agree with that. If you can get him back to the form he had with us, you have a damn good player in your hands. Big IF though after all everyone thought he was going to do brilliantly well at Pompey but that didnt go to plan.

Totally agree. He never used to panic in front of goal at Gigg or Deepdale!

Think its a case of him only getting 15 miniutes here and there and when he does get on the pitch, he is trying to hard to impress!!

His workrate is superb and will run all day.

The Nuge will be back Im sure of it. Plus his family are local so he can see his mummy!!!

I suspect he's low in confidence. The more games he's players the better, and you might have a good player in your hands.

I don't think he's been given a decent chance at Portsmouth. A great signing for Burnley, he'll score goals given a decent run in the team.

Just hope Coyle doesnt make the mistake of playing him on the wing. I would put him in the side oahead of Paterson who i feel should be on at least 3 goals by now but keeps flapping at the chances he's getting. The miss at Chelsea should have been in the net. Missed two good chances against Everton not including the header that hit the bar and bolloxed a great chance against Man Utd.

If we get Nugent playing at the top of his game i believe he'll be a better goalscorer than anything we have right now. Glad we got Nugent and not Cousin from Hull anyhow

It's all good and well saying Nugent is back, sign him up and so on but its just one game, lets see how he’s doing after 10+ games

if his confidence is there he is a match winner.

    as he has just proved.

If you don't like him dingles we will take him again
