BBC Match Report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28647173 Never saw the game but from what I'm hearing on Twitter Rangers were by far the weaker team. Good to see MacLeod get a goal, hope he manages to keep a place in the team. Even if we were garbage and it was the Challenge Cup, good to start off the season with a win against one of our strongest league opponents. Anyone get to the game?
Crowd of 18k. Not too bad imo. However, the main turning point was when brother Beaton stepped in to offer some assistance.
Clearly Hibs have seen something in it now since they have chosen not to appeal it even tho they agree it was a bit harsh. If Rangers play like that all season, they can kiss bye bye to automatic back to top league.
Will be an interesting game at Ibrox tomorrow, hopefully fingers will be pulled out to take on arguably the biggest competition for us.
Moving on to tonights game. . .here's the latest. Tonight they have dedicated their programme front page to one of their Jossy's Giants. . . SLOVENIAN Vuckic. The have done this by picturing him with the SLOVAKIAN coat of Arms. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B9vfjDMIgAAgB7Z.jpg Good old Sevco eh!
Neither will 13 players who are out of contract plus the five boys form Newcastle. They wont get promotion this year imo unless the SFA bend the rules for them again but they will need a full new squad next year. So let the laughs continue.
Genuine question here DT, how's the Jambo's finances looking? Without a doubt you will be celebrating like f*ck at the end of this season. I'd imagine that attendances towards the tail end will start picking up with excitement, until the big televised finale in May which you'll no doubt be greatly to looking forward to. So come next season, will Hearts have a highly confident and experience young team directly challenging the top 6 of this year - with directors also benefiting from a lower cost base than people would normally expect? If so, that could be a recipe to kick on and become a consistent force in the top flight. Accies have made a small fortune off selling their best youth and Hearts now have a model which could result in those kind of transactions benefiting the club for years.
We'd be making a loss if the fans weren't contributing through FOH, but we are and that will continue forever, probably even more so once the club is fully fan owned. Ann's plan is at the very least to have the club breaking even before she leaves. So once the club is handed over to the fans we should be breaking even/running in profit, with all the FOH funds on top of that. Plus any additional income from player sales etc. Pick up? They never went down. We have had attendances dip to about 15,000 but that's due to folk not turning up or so I'm led to believe. AFAIK every home game this season has been a home sellout bar 100 tickets here or there. We've also had the largest travelling support in Britain quite a number of weeks, depending on how many tickets we get. In fact I think only one team in the league has given us less tickets than Rangers. ....em, league will be over at Ibrox in April buddy Pretty much. That's the plan.
The groundwork of FOH this season will reap massive rewards over the next few seasons mate, something to be really proud of. Essentially all Ann needs is one bumper transfer fee to show the model is working. Every club in Scotland should be mirroring what goes on at United/Accies/Hearts/Hibs and I include Celtic in that too given our ridiculous salary budget! We should be trying to bring through youth, but might find ourselves losing out on talent who are guaranteed a game elsewhere (esp if they have a track record for moving them down south). Good to hear. If you're set for a price increase on season bukes then hopefully this year's performances will ensure the demand remains solid! I can kinda see why they'd refuse... on the grounds of being even more an embarrassment in their own midden. Or perhaps March DT! It is the future for Scottish football. The clubs who embrace it will last longer and depending on how lucky they get, will have enough to ensure they can hoover up the best talent available domestically.
Since I posted that, I've had it confirmed that every home game this season has been a home sell out. Season Tickets for next year haven't been announced yet so no idea on if we are looking at a price hike, but if there is a price increase I don't think it will be by much, we didn't drop our prices for the Championship as we knew the funds were vital. Technically, I'm still correct which calls for... It's the only logical future and it has the added benefit of doing wonders for the national team and the game in general. It's what economists call a virtuous cycle. Going with youth benefits the game, the quality of our youth improves, as standards all round improve and the quality of game improves, interest in the game grows. Attendances rise, TV deals start to become more lucrative and UNLIKE LAST TIME if we ride that wave by adding quality talent with that new money at a reasonable level rather than at the expense of Scottish talent, then we can start to strive towards EPL level of investment. Now that's obviously all pie in the sky talk right now, but it's a plan, and it's a far better course than we have been aimlessly meandering along for the past few decades. Would Rangers and Celtic have been as decadent in the 90's with your Laudrup's etc if we had the benefit of hindsight back then....(Well obviously Sevco wouldn't have...maybe )
