Excellent performance, great management and in game management good too, great stuff. Just in complete control, heating up as the tournament goes along, people should be rightfully excited. Lovely to have the group of players largely of their on & off-field class to get behind. The manager too is a class act.
There’s an unofficial song with the FA’s blessing this year. If the Brighton forum is anything to go by then the Superdry Brigade are very upset that the England song was given to rappers. It’s been funny watching people get upset about how sexist it is the to about blow jobs in an England song whilst they all somehow miss the numerous very obvious references to selling cocaine.
**** me I’m rattled. Have a good night everyone these don’t come around often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Calm down, don't want you doing a voodoo curse on us. Besides more than likely Italy is going to be the massive test
Worth saying, England went into the World Cup semis with a big win behind them and so cannot take anything for granted but tbh... yeah, hard to imagine how this side doesn't reach the final this time and then who knows? I mean **** me, Henderson has been flirting with scoring for England so much recently... the fact he got that goal makes you think something is stirring. Missed penalty, disallowed goal, and now gets his goal in the third consecutive game is it?
Rode their luck after being outplayed by Austria during 90 minutes and saved thanks to a VARmpit though. Deserved to go out after 90 minutes. Yet people are still raving about them because they looked good against Turkey (hands down the worst side in the tournament - and one which was boring as **** first half and where Italy only really turned it for half an hour) and Switzerland (who even somehow conceded 3 to a Deschamps team) in the groups. England's win over Germany was better than Italy's win over Belgium and England's win vs Ukraine was better than Italy's wins over Turkey or Switzerland. Both have had a game where they didn't perform against Austria and Scotland Think people are over-praising Italy way too much then bizarrely being hesitant for praising England for doing the same thing or better at more crucial stages of the tournament. Italy and England have been the 2 best teams no doubt, but I'd say England have been the better of the two when you compare their performances and results.
I was a bit nervous about last night. After beating Germany it had a feeling of “after the lord mayor’s show” but I need not have worried. Thought we played well, especially after the 2nd goal. Managed to get through with no extra yellow cards and hopefully managed the energy levels a bit. I didn’t see the Denmark game but suggestions on the Stoke forum they were looking a bit tired and leggy towards the end? They have a longer flight to London as well. Another 3am start for me on Thursday (Wednesday night in England) but don’t care - not missing this. Good job I am working from home on Thursday!!!
5am for me which is when I normally get up but I'll have to miss the second half to go to work. Pulling a sickie is right on the cards..
Yeah including them. We’ve seen the best of Italy, Spain and Denmark whilst England have barely got out of first gear.
Honestly starting to think we have the best team in the tournament and we’ve not really got out of first gear yet. We just keep getting better and better as the tournament goes on, it’s exciting.
Disagree with anyone saying we have looked better than Italy. Whilst i think England have overall looked pretty good, Italy have looked better. Just watch the way they move the ball around, they play the most like a club side out of any team in the tournament. Compare that to England who for the most part have looked slow and passive on the ball, and you see the difference. I have watched every game of England and Italy this tournament and Italy have been more impressive to me. They are more threatening going forward, their midfield has been excellent, and defensively they have been solid. England have been good, i take nothing away from that. I actually think England can go up a few more gears, especially going forward, but i am not sure Southgate has it in him to do that because he is a pragmatic manager at his core. I think Mancini on the other hand has been getting close to the best out of his side and as a result they look more impressive.
In previous tournaments we have seen teams peak too early in the tournament, for example Holland with Van Persie looked like world beaters but fizzled out. Hopefully that will be the case for Italy, and we’ve not even peaked yet.
