I'm sharing this L2 post here because Simon was a bit of 2CW, although a U's supporter at heart, and a lot of Liverpool fans contributed to the fund to support him and his family......

"I'd been feeling under the weather and more than a bit down for the last few weeks, brightened only really by results and performances from the U's. However, the jolting reminder of what Simon and his family have gone through over the last 5 years is a sober warning of what can come out of the blue (first season back in the league with most of the promotion team playing and we'd had a good day out and got a 0-0 draw).

One positive was the reactions and dipping in the pocket of fans across the leagues and support provided by the club to a family in an impossible situation.

R.I.P. Simon. Strength and condolences to his family.

I only read about this yesterday - it's absolutely sickening. The poor man, and his poor family. Truly heartbreaking.
