Stolen from the Spurs thread. Simple really, rank our squad in terms of ability and importance to the team. I've done 22 players, not gone too deep into youth players and the likes. 1. Mane - Its a coin toss between him and Salah 2. Salah 3. Firmino - his importance to how we play is massively under-played. 4. Coutinho 5. Lallana - Like Firmino, his importance to how we play is under-played. 6. Henderson - His form has dropped off a bit but still missed when he's out. 7. Can 8. Gomez 9. Wijnaldum 10. Clyne 11. Matip 12. Mignolet - Our best goalie ranked 12th...does that mean we'd be better off playing without a goalie 13. Milner - Maybe time to throw him back in at left back? 14. Sturridge - Sad seeing Sturridge dropping down the order, but he's becoming less important to us 15. Ox-Chamberlain 16. Alex Arnold - Has the abilty, just needs to find a position to play as I dont like him at right back. 17. Lovren 18. Solanke 19. Moreno 20. Robertson 21. Karius 22. Klavan Top five in my opinion are easy (the first four in particular could be placed in any order) All five are essential to us and the sooner we have all five playing together the better. After that it gets hard. I do think given our defence is easily our weakest part of the squad its hard to give any defender or goalie too high a rating. I think given our squad now, the standout centre back pairing would be Gomez and Matip. Clyne needs to return too. Left back is an open book...you could put either of the three left back options we have and not improve or lower the standard. Moreno has had a top season, but the other night the Moreno of old returned...can we rely on him anymore? I think we need to move these players who have brain farts all too often on. Moreno, Lovren and even both goalies. We need to cut the crazy crap out.
1) Salah, Coutinho & Mane 4) Firmino 5) Lallana 6) Clyne On form number 1 is Salah but it's still hard to put him ahead of of Mane & Phil who've proven themselves for longer, so I can't separate them. But those 3 are our main match winners. Firmino links things together in his false 9 role & is excellent at recovering the ball, a key aspect of our style of play. Losing Lallana has made us a worse pressing team, we've missed his play in general. It's hard to know where he stands after his form tailed off last season & his long injury lay off, but he was one of our very best players 1st half of last season. We've missed Clyne defensively. Trent & Gomez have made a few mistakes between them (we probably beat Watford with Clyne for a start). Our defence is bad enough with him, it certainly can't afford to lose his defensive reliability. Our best defender. cba ranking the rest. Absolutely not. We won't really know that until Robertson has played more, he certainly hasn't shown the kind of major defensive lapses that Moreno has. In fact in the Palace game he was probably our best player. Also he provides the natural width that we severely lack with Milner, with quality crossing ability. He needs more chances.
Firmino Coutinho Mane Salah Lallana Clyne Matip Hendo Gini Milner Emre Gomez Migs Studge Moreno Lovren Cba with the rest.
1a) Klopp 1b) Coutinho 1c) Salah 2) Firmino 3) Mane 4) Virgil van Dijk 5) A time machine for Steven Gerrard 6) Lallana 7) Henderson 8) Matip
Bump Based on form this season in the PL only, also taking into account minutes played, only including ppl who have played more than 1/2 of all minutes because I cba to do anyone else (which means Diaz misses out) 1. Alisson (miles out) 2. Salah 3. van Dijk 4. Trent (Him and the past 2 players are all relatively shite, but still ok) 5. Firmino 6. Nunez 7. Fabinho 8. Elliott 9. Thiago 10. Gomez 11. Hendo 12. Robbo
