Rest in Peace, Just Fontaine. 13 goals in only 6 matches at a World Cup, more than 2 per game on average, a record for Eternity (Unfortunately 4 of those 13 were in the match for 3rd place against Germany which we lost 3-6 ). Only 3 players ever scored double digits at one WC tournament ( Just Fontaine 13 in 1958, Sandor Kocsis 11 in 1954 and Gerd Müller 10 in 1970). Although he only played in one World Cup he's still 4th on the all time record scorer list. I looked it up, he had to end his career with only 29 and scored 30 goals in only 21 matches for France.
RIP I think he would have been such a good goal machne had he not gotten injured- maybe even better than Muller
