    Stolen from Championship thread .

Best Player of the Season .

Had 3 choices but went for Golden Boot winner Jonson Clarke-Harris his 2nd GB in 3 seasons , without his goals we'd struggle with our style of play .

Worst Player of the Season .

Have to say Will Norris on loan from Burnley since January .
We tend to struggle with GK's but this self confessed Scumbridge fan was an ok shot stopper but everything else about him was dire , he was sh*te & every fan at the club pleased to see the back of him .

Best Signing of the Season .

    Ephron Mason-Clark reputed £200k from Barnet .
If we sign 6 players , the manager signs 2 , Fry signs 2 & MacAnthony's analytics data based team help sign 2 .
Fair play to Grant McCann , Fry & DMac weren't keen on EMC & he was close to signing for Pompey but came to London Road , probably be sold for £1.5-£2 million in the summer , good return for Posh & Barnet's 20% profit above initial fee .

Worst Signing of the Season .

Will Norris , see worst player of the season paragraph .

Best Game of the Season .

Could have chosen 4-0 Sheff Weds 1st leg or 5-2 Plymouth pumelling but chose August's 4-0 win v Lincoln where Clarke-Harris & Marriott both scored a brace & all Posh fans were full of hope for the season but neither McCann or Fergie paired them up as a 2 often enough for my liking as it could have worked imo .

Worst Game of the Season .

this is quite easy , that 2nd leg , only a Posh fan could have known that we could have screwed that up , have a good squad when the underdogs but too many big time Charlie's on the night , Clarke-Harris , Jack Taylor , Ollie Norburn , Joe Ward , Will Norris & Frankie Kent the big time bottlers , credit only on the night to Ephron Mason-Clark & Ronnie Edwards .

Best & Worst Opposition of the Season .

Best : Ipswich , absolute class above anything else I witnessed albeit only from 10 home matches .

Worst : Lincoln , when you win 4-0 & leave the ground disappointed you know your team have played well , credit Lincoln fans that day , a group of around 3-400 were just bouncing all day even when their team were sh*te.

It's probably too obvious, but it has to be Alfie May. Scored 20 of our 45 league goals and has been an absolute stalwart. We're going to miss him when he rocks up at either Derby or Charlton.

Worst Player of the Season .

Christian Norton - the lad simply isn't suitable for the Football League, let alone League 1. He's made more than 50 career league appearances and has never scored a goal - he's meant to be a striker!! Honestly think he'll be retired in a couple of years.

Best Signing of the Season .

Aidan Keena - it's no secret our best run of form came once he was teamed up with Alfie up front. He's got some big shoes to fill next season.

Worst Signing of the Season .

Christian Norton , see worst player of the season paragraph .

Best Game of the Season .

For me personally, it was the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. For 75 minutes we absolutely dominated against them, but the conditions soon got to us and they managed to peg us back from 2-0 down. As an all round team performance, it's probably the best I've ever seen us put together in the third tier.

Worst Game of the Season .
Most Cheltenham fans will say Pompey away or Oxford away. Both 4-0 defeats. I wasn't at Pompey, and the Oxford game came after we secured our position in League 1 and the players were very much on the beach. For me it was Barnsley at home (4-0). They were all over us from the first minute and we never looked like getting anything from the game - in the end 4-0 flattered us, that's how bad we were.

Best & Worst Opposition of the Season

    Best:
Barnsley - they were outstanding at Whaddon Road. None of the rest of the top 6 impressed me in the games I was at.
Worst: Forest Green Rovers - by a distance the worst team I have ever seen in the 3rd tier. That's not a dig at a local rival either, their own fans would say the same thing.

I voted for Conor Chaplin as POTS so I’ll stick with him. 26 goals and 4 assists in the league, best finisher we have and always involved, never stops. Morsy probably unlucky to miss out but in truth I could have easily chosen four or five.

    Worst Player

Hard to choose anyone this season, there were players who didn’t contribute much due to injury or lack of game time but no-one in my opinion who stank the place out. If you pushed me I’d say Keogh, not the player he was but then he was brought in more for his leadership and experience off the pitch anyway. I don’t think Harness is quite as good technically as those around him either, but he’s still a decent player who works hard and can chip in with goals from nothing.

    Best Signing

Take your pick. Hirst, Broadhead and Clarke all came in and made a real impact mid-season. Davis is a fantastic full-back, destined for the Premier League before too long. Ladapo got 17 goals and barely gets a mention. I’ll have to give it to Luongo though, from the moment he got fit and came into the side we looked unstoppable. Must be one of the best frees ever, he instantly made us a much better side. Some great business for us this season.

    Worst signing

Ahadme was a bit of an afterthought last summer, never really troubled the first team and went back to Burton on loan. On balance though I’d say Camara, arrived for a decent fee but only managed a couple of brief appearances all season due to injury. At a time we were desperate for midfielders, it was frustrating to have someone who we’d paid decent money for unable to help out. Hope he can get himself right for next season and show us what he’s made of.

    Best Game

There were a few, particularly towards the back end of the season, but just for the experience I’ll say the last home game vs Exeter. Being there and sharing it with friends and family was special.

    Worst Game

Failing to put Fleetwood away and then conceding an equaliser deep into stoppage time was a low point. Horrible.

    Best Opposition

It has to be Plymouth. The only side I saw this year who were able to match us straight up in a game of football.

    Worst Opposition

Morecambe, just wide open, no plan, really naive.

Best Player of the Season .

Ronnie Edwards...Different class and will be gone for decent money in the summer.

Worst Player of the Season .

Ricky Jade Jones...can run like the wind. But put the ball at his feet or ask him to think about anything and he does a remarkable impression of bambi with her feet on backwards, Awful.

Best Signing of the Season .

Ephron Mason Clark. To think he could not get a regular game for the few few months of the season. Absolutely brilliant on the left wing and a hard bar steward as well.

Rumour has it he will be another to go in the summer as we are in financial shite (...well its being called a "Youth Philosophy) and in a way I hope he does as I think he will get used as a centre forward when we sell Clarke Harris which may well ruin him as he is not really a finisher or a forward.

Worst Signing of the Season .

Ben Thompson...120 odd games in the champ with Millwall and at a decent age for a midfielder. Started most games for first 2/3 months and looked tidy enough if decidedly unspectacular, then missed an open goal at home in a draw v Burton got a bit of shit from the crowd and just got all shit before bench warming from Xmas onwards. Will not have been cheap on the wages either.

Best Game of the Season .

Obvious choice would be the 1st leg v Sheff Weds, but that was a little bit of a freak game where everything fell for us (keeper error, deflected goal, Sheff Weds having a shocker and their fans not helping matters by giving them pelters from 2-0 onwards).

So for me the 5-2 win at home to the Champs where we played them off the park.

Worst Game of the Season .

Sheff Weds 2nd leg play offs. A sad night indeed especially as it has probably acted as the catalysts for putting a dozen or so of our more experienced players on the list and in all probability saying goodbye to Taylor, Johnson Clarke Harris, Edwards, Mason Clark, Kent basically our spine and six best players.

Best & Worst Opposition of the Season .

Best - We simply could not get near Ipswich and it was not through lack of trying! Brilliant when they beat us 0-3 at London Road. Their two middle midfielders Morsey and the fella with the funny name were superb.

Worst - Morecambe / Lincoln / Exeter ...all awful at London Road. Probably give it to Exeter as we never really turned up in that game and still beat them quite easily. With the other two we played pretty well.

Most will go for Chaplin but I think Leif Davis shades it. Our two main weaknesses in 21-22 were our lack of attacking threat down the left hand side and our poor dead ball delivery. Davis solved both problems, topping the assist chart as a left back and playing a big part in us scoring the most goals from set pieces in the league.

Worst Player of the Season .

Richard Keogh. I’ve never rated him and he always looked unconvincing when he did play. Seems like a good bloke and positive influence on the squad though so I’m pleased he got to be part of the promotion side.

Best Signing of the Season .
Leif Davis, for the reasons outlined above.

Worst Signing of the Season .
Panutche Camara cost 500k and hasn’t been fit enough to start a league game yet.

Best Game of the Season .

Barnsley away. Those five minutes with the Broadhead and Hirst goals, being among the 5k away fans singing “and now you’re gonna believe us the town are going up” and actually believing it was going to happen was magical. The way we just blew teams away in the last few months of the season was incredible, especially after having such a poor record against the top teams in this league for so long.

Worst Game of the Season .

Bristol Rovers away. We could’ve played till midnight and not scored. After this game we were 8 points off the top two and I’d given up hope of going up automatically.

Best & Worst Opposition of the Season .

Best: Maybe a weird choice but I’ve never seen a League One team defend a lead as well as Lincoln did at Portman Road. We had 32 shots to their three but they were fully deserving of the victory as they were tactically astute and very well organised.

Worst: Morecambe came to Portman Road and barely got out of their own half. In fairness to them, they were unfortunate to lose the game at their place because we got a couple of controversial decisions in our favour.

No one stood out over a Curate's Egg of a season as a great player. The "best" were probably our FA Youth Cup midfield of McConnell, Yearn and Hoddle, especially Kai Yearn.

The first teamer that brought most smiles and enjoyment was two footed Liam Bennett on his return from loan at Walsall in January - our main creative threat from right back. The most important over the full season was probably Harrison Dunk - who was expected to be a second choice LB/LWB/LW in his 12th season at the club. Thanks to injuries, he made 27 appearances, only 3 as subs, and his 3 goals (against Posh, Stanley and FGR) in the last 6 games delivered the 9 points that kept us up. He'd only score one in the previous 4 seasons.

Worst Player of the Season .

Biggest let down was the rotating half a dozen that spent most of the season in the treatment room. Shilow Tracey and Jubril Okedina took a step back rather progressed after decent first seasons in L1. Saikou Janneh gets the vote as he never got going and rightly went on loan to sit on Wimbledon's bench.

Best Signing of the Season .

All happened in january. Probably pick of the bunch was Conor McGrandles on loan but the signing of Michael Morrison (returning home) and Ryan Bennett (on loan) laid the defensive foundations of the revival when CBs had been dropping like flies.

Worst Signing of the Season .

Brandon Haunstrup hardly played - thank god for Harrison Dunk. Same for Fejiri Okenabirhie - leaving us dependent on Sam Smith and out of form/class Joe Ironside for goals

Best Game of the Season .

Stuffing Posh at the Abbey was fun. It could have been a final nail in the coffin but instead it added momentum to our revival. The win at Stanley was probably the best away day as it was combined with a weekend in Wigan and much decent beer/whisky. A day out in Burslem, with Vale rolling over, was probably a close second.

Worst Game of the Season .

The pits was probably Shrewsbury away (5-1) but MK away (1-0) and Posh away (1-0 OG) were no fun. 5-0 at Hillsborough is but a fading memory.

Best & Worst Opposition of the Season .

Best: Barnsley were the most impressive. Wednesday and Ipswich were a class above us but could be frustrated. Derby benefitted from the Paul Warne touch but they were too far behind by the time he got his feet under the table.

    Worst
: FGR were pretty gutless and clueless home and away. Oxford and MK looked a shadow of their former selves.
