Oh, I thought it was something that could be done in the background. Didn't realise it was a manual thing. Fair enough. 1am.
I honestly don't know what's involved, but I assume if it was a process you could just schedule and it does it itself he'd have already set the wheels in motion . . .
Yeah it's a manual process. Take the board offline in the admin panel Backup site files Backup site database Copy backups to new location Stand up a test VM Restore site files to test VM Restore site database to test VM Confirm backup and restore success by browsing test site Destroy production VM Build new production VM Harden production VM against intrusion Create database account Run OS update on new production VM Create data partitions for site files and database Install LAMP services Install Apache and PHP modules Install Elastic Search Restore site files Restore site database Kick off a rebuild of the search index (this doesn't carry over in restores) Test site functionality Put the board online in admin panel That's the high level runbook.
Been running slow for me all week, but seems back to normal, if not slightly quicker than it was before the issues.
I don't know what @StretfordEnd will be doing during this mammoth activity but I will be in charge of delivering drinks and snacks and probably being blamed for every problem in the world including hunger, Russia invading Ukraine and `Donald Trumps entire existence
Well technically if you are in charge of bringing food then it will be your fault if TAFKAP is hungry
It's an IT deployment activity - the required nourishment is a never ending supply of Pizza and Silver Monster
This site has periods of being incredibly slow to load and even sometimes unreachable recently. Give it a few minutes and it might he workable again. Is this everyone else's experience?! EDIT: actually read up in the thread, sorry
Sure please meet us at the nice bakery in Knowsley on Monday and don’t forget to bring your passport, your membership card :and a black bin bag thumb
we are just working out the times / availability / bank holiday activities. As it currently stands 12:00 tomorrow is likely to be the time that the rebuild will happen
Disgraceful at how slow this site is running. @TAFKAP needs to pull his finger out and sort this sh*t out!! …is something someone who doesn’t understand that this is a free site and TAFKAP does this in his own free time would say
