Badly - it means that he could vote against sacking himself in a vote of no confidence in the manager :rolleyes

Not true the last real trophy we won was the back to back triumphs in the Texaco Cup in 1974 and 1975 - the TEXACO Cup - they just don't have glamorous tournaments like they used to
I don't include the Inter Toto in 2006 as we didn't play a game in the tournament, we won it by default by being the last club standing and Glenn Roeder had to be informed by a reporter that we'd won because we didn't actually know

So Rafa is the preferred replacement, apparently Newcastle have already approached him, but with Shteeeeeve's meeting not happening yesterday it begs the question just what impact on his replacement is his seat on the board actually having on replacing him as the manager ?

So Steve, we have to talk about our manager, he is called steve, and he is a big shit twat. Oh okay steve, should we fire him? Oh I don't know steve, I think he quite likes the big fat pay cheque he gets every week. So it's settled then Steve, Steve can stay!

Thats how I imagine the meeting went.

He is in a meeting with Lee Charnley as we speak. His days are numbered and I expect an announcement within the hour.

Rafa already agreed to a 3 year deal to replace him as well apparently

YAY they've taken out the trash - now we wait to see who's confirmed as the new manager - hopefully it won't be yet another of Cashley's bargain basement 2nd rate gambling debt recovery nightmare

Apparently so, having already interviewed and agreed terms with his replacement Rafa Benitez before sacking himself

I'm happy with Rafa, I think he's a great manager, what I'm concerned about is the owner of the sporting flea market's effectively neutering a managers ability to 'MANAGE' the team. The revolving door of managers over the last 7 years under Ashley's ownership and the marked decline in performance, team building, quality is a telling story which Sky showed earlier on today. lack of consistent quality managers can only partially account for this, the ship is sinking and the management appears to be debating the health and safety qualities of the water they'll drown in rather than how to resolve the problem of the f*ing great holes in the ship

I like Rafa, always have, I think he is an honest decent man. But...what is he doing? Newcastle is a revolving door of managers and players, has been since the Keegan era ended.

If Charnley and the rest of the board really had any idea what the best interests of the the club are they would have resigned long ago, because they are part of the problem, not the solution. Its the fans of that great club I feel sorry for.

Just about to go to the pub to watch the match. Don't expect to win but I'm hoping to see some effort and a few chances for our non-scoring duds.

A draw would be well above what I'm expecting, but the new manager might give the team a pretty positive lift.

Played better - but forward line pants - tried hard, but needed a break which we didn't get. Lost 1-0 to the league leaders, but we can still save ourselves by beating the crap around us - starting Sunday

If we can take 4 points from the next 2 games we're well in with a chance of beating the drop

A win at Norwich is the minimum needed to help us stay in this poor league.
