That final was pretty poor tbh but Ronnie dug in really well. At 4-0 down I thought for sure that it was all over. He played some amazing snooker against Ding but thought he was well off the pace against Trump. Judd shot himself in the foot though and kept giving Ronnie the opportunities he needed.

Safe to say that Ronnie is going to be favourite for the world championships. A lot of players seem to up their game for the big one though so he'll need to be on it. What a start to the year he's had though at his age!

Probably only a matter of time given the invitation event taking place there next month but, as much as this is clearly significant, the idea of a "fourth major" just springing up out of nowhere doesn't sit all that comfortably with me.

Wilson's had a really tough run to the final, while O'Donnell's run is a great story given he dropped off the main tour not that long ago. Such a shame that the final itself has been pretty low on quality.

If they were paying out £147,000 for each maximum, the powers that be would be cleaned out in no time. There have been five already this year.

Not often Ronnie O’Sullivan gets white washed.

    Well played Mark Selby .

Hope the second session of the final between Mark Allen and Zhang Anda this evening is a bit more free-flowing than the somewhat stodgy fare served up this afternoon. Beautifully poised at 4-4.

Jesus, Mark Allen completely transformed into Cliff Thorburn! Had to turn it off after watching two frames last night. Boring turd with a well slappable face.

It was pretty turgid stuff at times and I don't think playing that way really helps Allen, as his world semi-final with Selby showed last year. Still, he's currently on track to end the season as world number one so who am I to argue?

Ronnie beat Higgins 4-0 with breaks of 135, 129, 102. Don’t think Higgins potted a single ball.

I think the prize is big enough to motivate the old man.

I think he will give the world's a very good go this year to hit 8-8-8 and then just chase the biggest money pots in any exhibitions or whatever the oil states and China offer.

If he gets the triple 8 it will be the last time we see him at a ranking tournament imo.

Remarkable week from Williams at the Tour Championship, producing what's being described in many quarters as one of the finest clearances ever to get past Tom Ford in the first round before beating Trump, Allen and O'Sullivan comfortably. On that form, he really should be considered a major threat for the World Championship coming up but no Tour champion has yet got past the quarter-finals at the Crucible so it will be very interesting to see how Williams fares. Given the calibre of some of the players taking part in qualifying over the next week or so, Neil Robertson among them, there's also the potential for some absolutely stinking draws in the first round.

    the hype has started already.

O'sullivan has always dissed the crucible.
