15 years and counting. One trophy opportunity remaining this season. We'll probably do our best to exit that in January - Ange and the players due a bonus if they can crash out in round three of the FA Cup.
Fantastic start for both - both suit Tottenham perfectly too. Even if they don't go on to be successful for Spurs - this should be a blueprint for all future Tottenham managers and Tottenham teams. We compromised for four years and weren't successful anyway.
Fans forum was yesterday with Levy, managers and captains of both teams (men and women). Haven't watched it yet and a fair bit has been covered by the usual Spurs journalists but topics include the new manager, mistakes made, return to "our" culture as a club, finances, ticket prices etc. Might be an interesting watch for anyone interested. I think it's on Youtube and 'SpursPlay'.
Solomon out for a few months joining Perisic in the injury room. Gils return from injury is good timing, he should integrate well into Ange's system.
Things are going well at the moment. i can recall times where we've been top after 4 games or so but never 9 games. just waiting for the bubble to burst. SHELFSIDE... where are you to bask in the glory??? a very very rare Friday night game tomorrow. i can literally recall one against wet ham a fair few years ago. scratching my head to recall another one.
Yeah, not ideal timing for Richarlison. I don't think Maddison is long term and was mostly precautionary but injuries and suspensions will hurt us in the coming weeks. I think we have a decent starting 11 and a few extra to call upon but we're not yet at a position where Ange has a squad he can fully trust to be successful in the way he wants to play. Losing our three best defenders and Maddison last night was pretty bad. We don't have much defensive cover at the minute either.
I think it gives Gil, Véliz or even some of the u21's a chance at a run in the side as support for Son, Johnson and Deki.
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if Phillips gets thrown in on the defensive side too. I'm not sure what our back four is going to look like on Saturday with the suspensions on top of VDV's injury.
I think we see a back four of Porro, Dier, Phillips and Emerson Royal as the back four with Davies on the bench if he's back in time. I suspect we'll see Jamie Donley and/or Alfie Dorrington on the bench too. Vic Porro Dier Phllips Emerson Royal Bissouma Lo Celso Sarr Deki Son Johnson Forster Davies/Maddison/Austin Skipp Hoijbjerg Bentancur Gil Véliz Donley Dorrington
I have question concerning something I read two days ago about the previous mess the Spurs were involved in with transferring or trading a player with an unconfirmed agent or something like that. I read that the Spurs could be handed down some violations one of which is they could possibly be regulated. Could this actually happen?
First bit of business done. Udogie's signed a new contract until 2030 - really good news. I think he'll ultimately end up too good for Spurs so it's good we've tied him down for a while.
Well we have a right injury and upcoming tourney missing squad now don't we. Unless Ange is happy with Phillips or Dorrington we're playing 4 fullbacks until we sign someone. Dier is obviously off in January Need at least 1, prob 2 defenders. Hojbjerg is playing like he wants out and with Bissouma taking holiday time we may need reinforcements. Maybe an attacker signing if someone leaves
Fortunately the schedule isn't too gruelling at this time of year. 31st Dec - Bournemouth (H) 5th Jan - Burnley (H) - FA Cup 14th Jan - Manchester United (A) 31st Jan - Brentford (H) Three league games, three home games in the next month. I don't know where FA Cup round 4 slots in but hopefully by the time February rolls around we'll have more players available and we might have made some additions to the squad. I expect Lloris, Dier and Hojbjerg to leave in January. Ideally I'd like a CB and CM in as soon as possible but we know how it is usually. Dier clearly has no future here but I probably wouldn't sell Hojbjerg until we have a midfielder coming in - the manager is still playing him so obviously sees some use for him as a squad / utility player. If we can get through the second half of the season without losing players to suspension / injuries every week that'd be a start.
Anyone have any insights on Matthew Craig ? I see he’s played a grand total of 13 minutes of professional football which is very in line with the top quality players we’ve brought in the last few years
@Rabbi Keane if anyone but I don't think anyone on here follows the youth games particularly closely. I don't think there'll be too many Spurs fans who've seen much of him unfortunately.
Vicario (27) Porro (24) - Romero (25) - Van De Ven (22) - Udogie (21) Sarr (21) - Bentancur (26) - Bissouma (27) Kulusevski (23) - Werner (27) - Maddison (27) With Richarlison (26), Solomon (24), Johnson (22), Dragusin (21), Veliz (20) still to come in and prove themselves. Not suggesting that first 11 is the best starting 11 but Werner aside, are all players we should be building this squad around. We're starting to actually build a squad which feels young and exciting. There's a few squad players in addition to that which we'll need but could be upgraded upon (Royal, Davies etc) plus Son of course who's massively important but will eventually need replacing. Hopefully Werner comes good under Ange.
