Brian Barwick to review the club’s media output. Thought this was Interesting after the battering we've had in the press of late; it should work well with his media & FA experience, this is were Ayres has proven to be completely useless.
Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere...
£110 million outlay? Didn't we make back £78 million in player sales,£62 million of which coming from Chelsea? In reality, we spent less than what Citeh spent on Sergio Aguero.
It wasn't much of a net spend. We spent £35m net in 2011 which was basically Andy Carroll's transfer fee. And the previous 4 windows we made a profit anyway. I'm less concerned with how much we've got to spend and more concerned with how we spend it. We need to be prudent.
Comolli has said that, there may not be much in quantity this time, as there was 9 players last time, which were needed. This time will focus on added quality in areas that need focusing on. I do agree net wise, we haven't really spent that much, the media has said that ''Liverpool have spent over £100 million''...They haven't, they have failed to mention the profits we've made in the previous four transfer windows plus the £78 million, we've recouped from January 2011-September 2011. Our overall record since January 2009 is spent £164 million-recouped £162 million, which is a net outlay of.....£2 million.
I reckon we need 4 players maximum, some of this will be offset with the sales of Joe Cole and Aquilani and the departures of Fabio Aurelio and possibly Maxi who may decide to return to South America. Aurelio and Maxi owe us nothing, and we save on their wages.
Aurelio could have been great had he not suffered so badly with injuries, gutted. I always thought he came back on a pay as you play contract? Probably wrong. Maxi is a player i don't see as been in Kennys plan and to be honest bar the back end of last season has done nothing to warrant his wages, not all his fault though .. so i see him departing. Aquilani and Cole must be rid of completely. I think a goal scorer, a right winger and cover for Lucas would be the three most important positions and badly need additions. Anything after that would be a bonus.
Miss LFC. Those three areas solved would see us challenging for the title. I believe we're a real cutting edge away from being a force to be reckoned with.
We need the central midfielder who can play alongside/cover Lucas. We also need a goalscorer. They're the main two for me. Aside from that I think we need another centre back if we're not going to trust Coates next season because Agger misses too much of the season. We could do with that right-sided player as well, but it all depends on what formation we want to play and the system. I'd rather we moved away from 4-4-2.
Agreed with most of this, the formation will show itself when we get a right winger, if Comolli gets a player in the simulator role Adam Johnson, then yes, we will be moving towards 4-4-2 formation, which we started to see at the beginning of the season with the buy of Downing. I hate the thought of this.... but i see Kuyt & Glen Johnson being sacrificial lambs, which may not be a bad thing if we a buy striker (not sure we will), Kuyt & Johnson could bring in well needed funds to cover both roles (Right wing & Striker) I was hopping like most to see Johnson move up the right wing, with Kelly as RB, its not happened & most likely will never happen.
m in my final year of university and currently writing a research paper looking into financial inequality and instability within the premier league. Im looking to gain an insight into fans perceptions to changing of rules because of debt within the game, specifically looking at removing transfer fees. The more that complete it, the more rounded response and conclusion I can draw which will help me out a great deal. It takes no longer than a couple of minutes and you'd be doing a fellow premier league fan a massive favour. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFJic2NEZUJMMkQ2cjhyd3lVUVlNcUE6MQ&theme=0AX42CRMsmRFbUy1iOGYwN2U2Mi1hNWU0LTRlNjEtYWMyOC1lZmU4ODg1ODc1ODI&ifq Ben if anyone has any issues or would like to speak to me directly you can email me on my university email i9044885@bournemouth.ac.uk, it is a completely anonymous survey.
