I was wondering before the Wigan game today, what are the requirements needed for survival in the Premiership? I was talking to Daz earlier, and he said he reckons we need 38-40 points to stay up. I also heard 10 wins should see a team to safety, don't know if that's correct? So does anyone know any info, maybe the least amount of points a team has survived relegation with? Least amount of wins etc?
Technicalities"? The only thing you have to do is finish above the team that finish 18th, whether that's with 34 points or 50. West Brom stayed up with 34 points in '05, whilst Southampton went down with 50 points in '93, though that was a 42 game season. The team that went down with the highest points tally in a 38 game season was West Ham in '03, with 42 points . . .
I knew that wasnt right, we got promoted in 93 and we certainly played Southampton in our Premiership season... We also played Sheffield United first game....*sigh* I remember when we were good
