On my arrival at this forum, I immediately stop by in the section entitled 'New Members Forum' I politely say hello and introduce myself. And a spiteful young man says: Does he even know who TractorBoy is? In my day he was a furious killer, when I was in school in the 1920s, there was not a single boy or girl who had not heard his name. He killed three young girls by strangulation, and was months after his crime, found dead in a barn in what is now Sussex. He had took his own life. May I not recieve any such disrespectful posts again. As one of the girls he killed by strangulation, was well known to me.
HelloImOld, we have a member on the forum called Tractorboy (Bolton fan), who is alot older than most of the members on the forum. TheBaRoN, I would imagine, was refering to him, and not the serial killer that you thought of. I'm in my mid 30's and have never heard of the killer you are refering to.
I am very sorry for this misunderstanding. Although, I feel piratescotty may have a point. I wish to steer clear of this Baron fella. And yes, I am 95 years old. I was born in 1912.
Sorry to seem sceptical that we have a 95 year old on the forum, but it seems like a bit of a windup to me, it's as if you've been here before. I'm probably wrong though.
No offence intended whatsoever, but if you are 95, then fairplay to you for being able to use a computer. As my nan's about 68 I think, and the amount of times I've tried to teach her how to make a text message is unbelievable.
I will take Chelsea Blue's post as a complement. My grandson had me working the internet very well in a few days of lessons. It is pretty simple really. There is a key board with letters on it, and a cursor to click on icons with, I hate to think that the media may be building up a stereotype that all 50+ cannot use a computer. Being steadily less mobile by the day, I found the internet as a brilliant interest to replace my old interests of watching football matches and birdwatching. As my great-grandson has said the media often has the power to exaggerate the extent of certain culture. Until I had several long discussion with him, I was afraid to leave my front door between 1999 and 2001 because I thought that the young generation of today were all violent thugs. However, he assured me that this is not true, and the media had exaggerated all of the concepts I had developed. I now walk down to the Newsagents 100 metres from my house every day to buy a newspaper. As regards to piratescotty's comment, I am sorry I cannot prove myself as a genuine being, as this is the internet. Equally I could think you are a windup. However, I think it would be kinder if everyone trusted each other on this matter.
I'm going to assume that you are 95, can't see any reason to doubt you. I'm sure you would have seen alot in your time. Would love to hear some stories if you don't mind?
Well, I have seen a lot indeed, would you like to hear about my time in the war? or about the football I have watched over the years. Thank you for showing interest.
Its a shame youre only 95....just another 10 years older and you would have been alive when Bristol City FC were a dominant force in English football...Ill be 95 by the time that happens again. : If you are genuine then its great to have you on board.... football forums is a diverse place, and we have posters of all ages, all races, all geographic locations...and unfortunately all levels of intelligence!! (as youve already experienced it seems....)
Lets hear about your time in the war first, then perhaps the football. I am genuinely interested in history, but not text book history, instead, through the eyes of people that experience it.
