While driving home tonight, I heard someone (I think it may have been Pat Nevin) saying on 5Live they'd been told there's a 350% increase in rainfall in the Tayside area over the last year. Whether or not that figure is completely accurate, is the Rangers hierarchy so completely divorced from reality that it seemingly can't or won't recognise just how epically awful the weather has been for the past few months? Perhaps they'd like to swap with Truro City who, as I write this, are playing the third of what is currently scheduled to be seven matches in 13 days with another one against the leaders of their league scheduled for tomorrow night. I understand Rangers will be frustrated but their statement today stinks of a repulsive and entitled arrogance. After helping to show the best of Scottish football on the pitch on Sunday, they'd be far better served keeping their collective trap shut off it. I would also question the focus on apparent disciplinary proceedings against Dundee rather than finding a reasonable solution. In my own team's league, Colchester were recently allowed to change the dimensions of their pitch because of drainage issues that had led to several match postponements (including their game with us which is now scheduled for next week). While I know some people whinged about it, I thought it was a reasonable and pragmatic approach to a problem that ultimately we have very little control over. If things like that are feasible in the Dundee case but haven't been considered until now, then I would suggest the authorities up there aren't doing their job properly.
Scottish teams lose automatic spot in Champions League group stages Scottish teams lose automatic spot in Champions League group stages Scotland have just lost their automatic Champions League spot for the champions and playoff for second place to the Czech Republic. Celtic's annual flops in Europe are coming back to haunt them now.
Such is life. We're not going to gamble on, or are realistically going to get, the required quality of players. Europa is our "level "
Better off in the Europa League anyway instead of trying to compete with the billionaires in the Greed-is-Good League.
I agree that the Europa is Celtic's level. And Rangers obviously. Third place is the best you can hope for in the greed league if you get a good draw and play well. But even with that taken into account, Celtic's performances have been pretty poor over the years even when they've been in the Europa. And especially when compared to what Rangers have done. Surely that's something you need to look to improve going forward?
Of course. But lol we just can't get the quality in to even do well in the europa. Last time we got far in it we had a much better squad/players
That's partially true. But doesn't explain how Rangers have managed to do so much better in recent years despite competing in the same league and having the same financial constraints and problems attracting players to the SPL that you have. It wasn't even a one off either when they reached the final, this season they had a very credible run to the last 16 too and pushed an experienced European team in Benfica very close and could easily still be in the competition now. If they can do it, surely there must be a way for Celtic to improve their performance even if you're not going to be able to attract the kind of squad that you had in the Martin O'Neill days? This isn't an anti Celtic dig by the way. My uncle's a Celtic season ticket holder and I've been up with him in the past so I'd like to see the club do better.
Celtic Football Club has accepted that not going out of business is success and its used as a success tool. We have 75 million sitting in a pot somewhere but won't spend over 3 million on a player. Lowest common denominator stuff. We've won the at least we're not The Celtic cup and fans accept it
The Rangers bottling it again. Maybe if the Dundee game got played their sphincters wouldn't be collapsing right now. Amirite @Hashtag55 @Royal Blue MaLDini
Are they still coming? Beale has a better record than Clement now and fans in the Dundee stadium want Clement out. What a glorious week
