Rishi Sunak to end ‘sick note culture’ by putting coma patients to work as draft excluders Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has outlined plans to end ‘sick note culture’, citing the example of coma patients who could easily take up gainful employment as draft excluders. His comments come as the government seeks to make further inroads into reducing the welfare budget, with those on incapacity benefits and claiming to be ‘sick’ seen as an easy way to save a couple of billion a year. He told reporters, “Sure, you might have a so-called ‘bad back’, which means you’re not going to be working as a handyman – but drug companies are always looking for people to test stuff on, and you are more than qualified to do that. “This isn’t just about saving money, it’s about making people feel better about themselves by making a contribution to society – a contribution made by taking on a minimum wage job nobody else wants.” Sunak said that in these difficult times, people with considerably less wealth than him would probably insist those people who are on incapacity benefits should be making some sort of contribution to society.
I think it is time this Tory government gets signed off on the long term sick. They clearly aren't fit to work.
To be honest, there are people out there that would be able to work if their employers would put reasonable adjustments in place correctly. However in order to do this, the companies need to have the right support behind them in order to achieve that, be it with support to know how to implement correctly, or knowing where to access funds to help offest the costs of these adjustments. I do not agree with any kind of blanket removal of benefits though.
No it's a "I love the Conservatives governing the UK so much I moved to Germany when Thatcher was in her pomp" kind of thing.
Wait, he was being serious and has right wing ideology 99% of the population would be ashamed of? Well I never.
Because my old man as a small business owner and my mother both had good jobs, we all voted Tory in our house. I left the UK because I wanted to work abroad, I would have done the same which ever party was in power.
My dad had his own business too, a driving school, my mum did the books and made the appointments. I remember one thing my dad telling me (he died when I was 18): "If you work for your money vote Labour, if your money works for you vote Tory".
My old man worked as a baker 6 days a week with hardly a day off sick from 16 years old till he retired. He certainly worked for his money.
Rwanda bill latest: Sunak says first Rwanda asylum flights will take off in '10-12 weeks' - BBC News The desparation to get this off the ground (excuse the pun) is embarrassing. It's almost as if he believes getting this through will mean they win the election. It's a disgraceful policy, and I hope it again ends up scuppered. Once the GE takes place, its finished anyway as I can't see Labour going along with it.
Rwanda bill latest: Sunak says 'nothing will stand in our way' over Rwanda flights after bill passes - BBC News Vile, hateful and pandering to the worst parts of society. Hopefully it gets held up for months with court challenges and by the time him and his desparation is turfed out on its arse following the GE, there won't have been a single flight. In his head this inhumane shite clearly represents a victory of some sort, and no doubt it could result in a few extra votes from the type of scum you'd cross the road to avoid. It's imperative that "victory" is prevented from happening.
