The return leg with Unirea Urziceni.
    Kick-off: 18:00
TV Coverage: ESPN (live 17.30GMT), BBC Radio 5 live

When Unirea played @ Anfield, they was determined to try & hold Liverpool to a 0-0, defending very deep in their own half, to point the if any came out of the own half they got a noise bleed, having said that they did defend well... only for Liverpool to gain a slender 1-0 win in the end.

Hopefully they will open up a little, as they will want to regain a couple goals at their home ground, lets hope were fully prepared.

    Hoping for a starting Line-ups
    Reina

    Carragher - Skrtel - Agger - Aurelio

    Mascherano - Leiva

    Kuyt - Gerrard - Benayoun

    Babel

    So what your prediction?

Took our time to get going on an absolute dire pitch but fully expect us to go on now and win this easily. Poor defending for their goal, what on earth has happened to our defence this season? Every single corner causes us hassle no matter how well taken.

On a side note, is it in commentators contracts to slag us off? After just 10 minutes we had Chris Waddle telling us how we were playing poorly had only had one chance? I suppose any other team (namely Arsenal, United, etc) would have been playing free-flowing football on that pitch, had 25 chances and scored 10 of them within the first 10 minutes? Seems its fashionable to have a go at Liverpool at the earliest oportunity...STFU tosser.

Easy enough game so far, although we need to be more aware at set pieces.

Can see a few more goals in this game, Babel goal was good, great control to bring it down.

I agree with your comment on our defence KK.....even today Uni have had a couple more chances that have been a little too close for comfort. But apart from a few defensive lapses I think the 'pool have played pretty well so far. And Babel looks like he's up for a fight and is hungry to play at long last. Hopefully he keeps it up for the rest of the season now. He took his goal very well. Masch's was a stormer though

Been an okay game, really. I would like to see a bit more creativity from the team now that Liverpool are definitely through. Surely, Liverpool can't concede thrice in one half?

Haha, that's exactly what I told someone at Half Time.

Anyway, job well done. I hope that Skrtel's fine. He was forming a pretty decent partnership with Agger.

    You're welcome :whistle.
I didn't realise it was an early kickoff until an earlier comment about you conceding.. switched on the tv and bam 1-1. You went on to win too so again you're welcome ;).

Pitch was pretty poor, never easy to win away in europe. Good win even if expected :shrug

Easy enough win in the end on a poor pitch and heavy rain. Skrtel is a worry, but at least we have the Greek back now to whom will be more suited to Blackburn and isn't Johnson due back for sunday? Meaning Carragher can slot back into CB if needed.

Boy we needed a win like that, as September was the last time we scored 3 goals.

Skrtel and Johnson latest - Liverpool FC

Martin Skrtel has broken a metatarsal in his right foot, Rafa Benitez today confirmed.

The good news of Glen Johnson returning to first-team training this morning was tarnished after x-rays confirmed the worst on an injury Skrtel sustained in the 3-1 victory over Unirea.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We were really disappointed after the game because it was a good result but then we had the bad news about Martin. He's had x-rays today and they confirmed he has a broken metatarsal.

"We have to check over the next couple of days how long it will take to recover."

On Johnson, who hasn't featured since sustaining a knee injury in the 1-0 victory at Villa Park in December, Benitez added: "He's doing well. He was training today with the team - a light training session.

"I was watching him and he was quite sharp. But Sunday will be too soon."

Lille next, very winnable game for us if we play to what we are capable of, but we all know the story of our season...

Send out a solid team away from home and try and get the away goal then take them at Anfield were we can be a bit more adventurous, easier said than done.

How typical of our season, Skrtel has been poor for most of it, he finally shows a return to some excellent form and is now out for 8-10 weeks...

Think you can count him out for the rest of the season.

    Lille(A) 6pm kick-off. (ESPN or FIVE)

Lille 6pm (GMT) kick-off. (ESPN or FIVE)

Looks like the curse continue with Yossi Benayoun, he's looking doubtful for game against Lille after an ankle injury.

Daniel Agger should be available having recovered from a bug.

    Liverpool line-up:
    Reina

    Johnson - Agger - Carragher - Insua

    Lucas - Mascherano

    Kuyt - Gerrard - Babel

    Torres

SUB: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Kyrgiakos, El Zhar, Kelly, Riera, Ngog

Although this season we don't seem to travel well away for home, after the display against Wigan they need to put on a good show.
