The Next Generation for Wales

In recent years we've seen Connor Roberts, Harry Wilson, Dan James ,Chris Mepham, Joe Rodon, Ben Woodburn, Ethan Ampadu, Rabbi Matondo and Matthew Smith feature prominently for the national side, and make significant contributions in qualifying for Euro 2020 which is a remarkable amount of talent for a country of our size. I'd thought I'd give an update on the group of young players that are now fighting to join them and have yet to be capped by the senior side, because it's definitely exciting.

Ben Cabango (19)​

Club: Swansea City
Position: CB
First Team Appearances: 2
Wales Youth Level: U21's (5 caps, 0 goals)

He's the next one through at the Swans, a centre half very used to passing the ball out of the back and has looked good when he's featured. He's become the key defender for the Welsh U21 side, and with more games for the Swans he could put himself in to contention for the Welsh first team. He looks a level above the likes of Cian Harries and Regan Poole in this area.

Robbie Burton (19)​

I still think he's a long way of getting in to the Arsenal side, but for him to be in and around the fringes of things with the level of Arsenal's young players he has to have talent. I'd put him behind some of the others in this list in terms of talent, but I still expect him to make the step up to the seniors at some stage.

Dylan Levitt (18)​

Phenomenal youngster, bosses the game for midfield for Man. United U23's as a bit of a quarterback. He's expected to make his first team debut for United against Astana in the Europa League, and if he impresses I think he's got a chance of getting more first team minutes in other competitions. I expect him to make his Welsh debut in March, and put himself in with a shout of making the final 23 man squad for the Euros.

Neco Williams (18)​

Wales Youth Level: U19's (16 caps, 2 goals)

He's excelled for the Welsh U19's as a wing back, and got his Liverpool debut against Arsenal which has to be a huge boost for his confidence. He'll feature for Liverpool again in the next round of the competition, and if he can get himself a loan move in January then he's someone who could put himself in with an outside chance of making the squad for the Euros given our lack of depth at right back.

Brennan Johnson (18)​

Wales Youth Level: U21's (4 caps, 1 goal)

Hasn't looked particularly good for the U21's so far since his debut goal, but features often for Nottingham Forest who obviously rate him very highly. Looks a real talent, and if he can get more minutes in the Championship again he's someone who might be able to play himself in to contention despite it being unlikely, and perhaps an international debut in the friendlies in March.

Terry Taylor (18)​

Features for Wolves in their League Cup game against Aston Villa, and has been on the fringes for Wolves in their Europa League campaign. He's definitely someone Nuno likes the look of, and has also impressed enough to feature for the U21's for Wolves.

Chem Campbell (16)

Wales Youth Level: U17's

He became Wolves youngster starter since WW2 when playing against Aston Villa in the League Cup, and has been a regular in their U23 side despite his age. He's been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, and is being looked at by big clubs throughout Europe. Has only featured for our U17's, but could come up through the ranks in the next year or two.
