I can understand your feelings on this. I go from very confident of a Biden win to a nagging expectation that Trump will somehow sneak it or worse still delegitimise the result so much it'll cause a massive constitutional crisis. 538 published an article today on that prospect What If Trump Loses And Won’t Leave? technically it's clear-cut what should happen, but it seems to me that it all assumes honest actors participating in good faith, not the exact opposite.
I was pretty confident Biden would win till i saw this research, weirdly i've found people are far more honest to marketing folk than to pollsters too, it's probably because the questions we're probing for are slightly different so not directly about who they'll vote for, but you can get a fair bit of insight out of them. Like i said it reminds me a hell of a lot of the Brexit vote.
Not at all surprising, TBH. In the heels of the election I did a project for a frozen pizza brand that focused on rural communities. The main insight I came back with is that the most important principles to these people are: tradition, community, hard work, and individuality -- those are manifested in the idea of reciprocity. Fast forward 7 months: Trump touts 'fairness and reciprocity' of new U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade deal (not gonna lie for about 2 minutes I was a Trump supporter as this is the first time I've seen such a clear an concrete direct line from my strategy being almost predictive ) (I can share with you that research if you want, although it's about 4 years old at this point)
That economist tweet is interesting, it directly maps to the stuff that we got back too, wonder if they used the same market research company?
That video of those 2 cops who were shot as they just sat in their car was horrendous. But was was even more shocking for me was the comments. People saying ‘it is what it is’, ‘they had it coming’ and people were even blocking the entrance and exit of the emergency rooms and shouting ‘I hope they die’. I understand that there’s huge issues with the cops in America but my god have we really got to the point where people actively want them to die. I think this anti police rhetoric in America has gone too far, you’d be stupid to want to be a cop in America these days.
The dehumanisation of cops is a very real phenomenon it seems. I have family members in the police and wearing a badge doesn't make you any less human. I don't know what the broader reaction to this has been, but I would hope it's as close as you can ever get to universal condemnation. Those who apparently turned up to the hospital to taunt the officiers are as much the enemy as the dirtiest of cops.
Not sure to be fair, we’ve got a business consultancy side to our US operation so it went through them, I just got the report back and a brief Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Okay Google, search "false equivalency" Ah then yeah, it's possibly off something syndicated, although (and I haven't finished it yet) the Economist one seems to be concentrated to that Ohio town.
Ice detainees faced medical neglect and hysterectomies, whistleblower alleges This sounds like Stephen Millar's work.
Trump: I don't think science knows about climate the man's a genius. He only needs to be right on one day when the temperature drops and the majority of people who can't distinguish weather form climate will believe he knows more than all scientists. Its called winter.
Reduce the national debt yet it'll have gone up almost $8tn in his first 4 years In other news... The kid gloves are coming off in regards to China.
God bless Jon Stewart. Edit: This is why as much as Republicans and Democrats wave the American flag, they are all full of shit. Here's the full event
Trump Claims He Wanted To Assassinate Syrian President Assad, But Mattis Opposed It So our Nobel peace prize nominee wanted to assassinate another head of state, but was persuaded against this action by a bloke nicknamed "Mad Dog", and now Mad Dog is overrated for not bringing the West into conflict with Russia.
The vast majority of people just vote on instincts based on small amounts of exposure to any particular candidate. The idea that he shoots his mouth off therefore is honest is one of the common stereotypes about Trump. It's based on the idea of what a common straight talker looks like with no actual analysis of the content of what he is saying.
Yup, as someone in advertising the first thing I tell any new client who is trying to make a name for their brand is that nothing, no new tech, features, or rationale that you have can ever beat a person who decides they like something else more than you. Not a knock on their brand or product - just human nature. If Big Vegetable comes at me with all the scientific data talking about how eating veggies for my next meal can improve my health and help me lead a better life, but I feel like eating a slice of pizza, and I really want a slice of pizza, I'm most likely going to grab a slice of pizza over a carrot.
Oh yeah. Well, eating pizzas will make girls think you're a loser. To be a real man, just eat the carrot.
