He wasn’t my first choice but I wasn’t keen on replacing Lampard either. Either way, he’s here now so we need to back him and thought it was worth having a thread for.

I know not everyone feels the same but I’ve been really impressed so far. I think he’s come across really well in the first few interview and press conferences.

    - Mason Mount
"I like what I see from Mason so far, he has a lot of talent and cares for Chelsea 100%. This is the best basis for a big development, I am very happy to have him around. I will not stop guiding and trusting him."

    - N’Golo Kante
"Kante is the strongest as a double 6, more than a single 6. Because we can use his energy and his volume in his game, his recoveries. He's a big helper for everybody. He is a world class player."

    - Billy Gilmour
"For Billy I have a good impression, very high level game understanding, very clever in positioning. We will see if he can compete on the physical level, but he's super fast on his feet and in his thinking. There is no need to get rid of players."

    - Werner and Havertz (on whether he hired to help them)
"Maybe? I am not sure. Maybe it wasn't the biggest disadvantage but I like to work with young guys and guys from the academy too. It is a bit strange, I do the first meeting and I know 6-7 players already."

    - Frank Lampard
"Fan back lash i hope not. That would be hard on the team. I can assume that it is a big disappointment to see that Frank was sacked. I was a huge fan of Frank as a player. He demonstrated what Chelsea is about. He sent me a personal message to wish me all the best."

    - Tactics / Line Up
"No don't read to much into my line up yesterday. I chose experience because a new coach comes in and I did not know how it affects the young players, to put the responsibility on the experienced players. I have zero doubts we have 21 players who are absolutely ready."

    - Early Expectations
"At Chelsea it is about results. The DNA is to win trophies and I am here to challenge for every trophy. This year is the Champions League and the FA Cup. The league is not realistic so we lose focus if we aim for that. People should be excited to watch our team."

He came over very well in his first news conference. Class from Frank to send him a message.

    Oh music to my ears

Never been keen on him as a holding midfielder. Just doesn’t have the distribution and you lose so much of his effectiveness when he’s limited to where he can win the ball back.

Looking forward to seeing how Tuchel uses him. Think we can expect a lot of rotation either way.

Tuchel keen to keep using the academy it seems. I’ve been impressed with him in these early stages. Hopefully he lives up to his words!

Gotta remember though he’s only got 18 months so he’s probably unlikely to blood in any more new lads.

Clearly Tuchel will be asked to get certain players performing though, right? Werner, Havertz, Ziyech to be precise.

If that means getting in the way of Abraham or Mount then that is the way it is. He's not going to come in and outwardly say piss off to the players who came through the ranks. Why would he? But he will have been given his expectations for the players.

He pretty much did exactly that to Hudson-Odoi yesterday! Strange bit of management, can't think of any examples of where that kind of public humiliation of individual players has ended well for a manager.

Not the manager particularly but Mourinhos outing of N’Dombele seems to have paid off in the long(ish) term.

Alli is the long, long, long game.
