Thread for upcoming speculation. I'll kick it off with more of a question than speculation. John Terry has just announced he's leaving Chelsea but wants to keep playing. Would you like to see him at Celtic Park?. . . personally i'd love to see it if it was possible.
Seen Borini mentioned this week, never really seen anything special about the guy and his goal scoring record is atrocious.
Haven't seen him play this season so not sure how he has been looking, but a wonderful player for Chelsea over the years. If he still had the same desire and passion then I wouldn't be against it, although I have to say that I'm surprised big Kolo hasn't had more game time. Up until the Borussia game I thought he had been mostly solid for us and still believe he could do a job for us.
Not saying he will but you probably said that about Roy Keane at that age. I understand he could go to China or America but it's not everyone that wants to go there. . again i'll repeat though, i'm not saying he would come. I'll also throw this at you. . Joey Barton came to Rangers.
Big difference between those two mate. If it was a few years ago then it could have been possible without the lure of Asia and America. Asia can set him up for life with a 2 year contract.
I understand that and it's huge carrot to dangle but John Terry is set up for 10 lifetimes already and might not want to move his family abroad, on the flip side he might jump at that chance. I agree with you there's every chance that's where he'll end up but if he wants to stay in the UK I think we should be looking at it. The likes of Kolo Toure could no doubt have taken that option and didn't. Terry is also a Celtic fan who has spoken highly of Rodgers in the past.
I think football has moved on from being the judge and jury on most personal matters. We are in the market for a left sided centre half and I think he'd be ideal. he can play from the back and also provides a huge presence with a big winning mentality. I'd like to see it happen rather than expect it to happen.
With him announcing this there will be a number of clubs in the Premierleague looking to snap him up. As you say though the lure of Celtic park and champions league football may give him some thought for consideration.
Seen his name pop up also. He must have something to have played at the level he has and the money he's cost. On the fringes at Sunderland, could it be a case of a flair player struggling in a team fighting relegation and on the backfoot all the time?. The situation Sinclair was in at Villa.
Borini would smash it in the SPL imo as someone who has watched a lot of him he works his bollocks off and has a lot of ability. Good finisher and can play out wide or up top.
Fair point Borini is a good player though and has a great work ethic. Think he would be a success over there.
We kinda ruined Borini tbh he was brilliant for Roma playing as a wide forward at such a young age and we signed him and left him to rot on our bench
