Only 8 days to go. Balls of steel I have to say, some really bad crashes I've seen and crashes where you just have to think Jesus christ, I just didn't see that. Coverage on ITV 4 starts on 27th May
Never really took the time to watch the TT but jesus f**king christ! Balls of steel is an understatement. Will be watching when i can this year. That video is awesome
I can't imagine how awesome it would be there in person, two of my mates are all going to it to see it live. Jammy bastards. Will be a cracking event with some brilliant racing.
Especially two of the crashes that I saw in the other video that I seen. One of them went down a bloody steep hill for christ sake, cringed most when I seen it. Only thing that came to mind was he was dead. 0:36 and 0:50 Those are the two crashes, only way I can think is they are dead, if they survived that, I do not know how.
That crash at 0:50 I didn't know it was Conor Cummings, how the **** he survived that is unbelievable. He was on tonight, at the start of the show talked his way through the event. How he is walking more less surviving that crash is unreal.
Sad to see that a Japanese rider died. Almost inevitable at the Isle of Man TT though. It's a fantastic watch though...the speeds and bravery are immense. I must go to watch it one day. And for those who haven't seen it, "Closer to the Edge" is well worth a watch. It's a very good documentary.
It was inevitable, if you crash at a race circuit they have a good chance to slide onto the grass and the gravel will stop them 99% of the time from going into the barrier and most times either walk away with bruises or a few broken bones, less chance of it being fatal. With the Isle of Man, it's unforgiven on the street racing, there is nothing stopping you from hitting a building or a kurb which is probably the highest thing on a road that does more damage than anything else. I have to admire anybody who actually races in the Isle of Man, purely for the bravery that they must have due to the speeds they hit on most of the roads and the challenge that awaits them, if I could ride a bike as good as any of the best riders out there, I don't think I'd have the balls to even participate in this event. I know I seem to baffle on about this, but Conor Cummings who 3 years ago I think it happened, I have to admire his courage to wanting to continue on racing in this event who was barely lucky to survive his terrible crash that left him with serious injuries. Watching his interview last night and discussing his crash, had that been me, that would've been my days over racing in the Isle of man. Walking away with shoulder, arm, back, leg dislocations, broken bones, nerve damage, broken tendons from one crash I think would've been enough to give it up.
And somehow survived, I think he is participating in this years event. RIP to Yoshinari Matsushita who died after an accident in the qualifying session. It just simply goes to show the dangers that are there in this event. He is the 21st rider to lose their life participating in this race. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/motorsport/22684974 Sad news
So sad about the japanese lad! Sounds harsh but they know the risks i guess, The mad thing is they will all be back out their the next session giving it 100%. It must like a drug to them. Must love the speed and being right on the limit. If i heard a rider had died on the course i would probably never ride it again, these blokes just live for it and fair play to em! R.I.P to the lad.
He was only entered into the race earlier in the same day he died. Such a shame. But like you say they all know the risks, it goes with all motorsports to be honest.
The TT is a proper throwback to old school Motorsport, it's great! It's on my Motorsport bucketlist along with Le Mans and the Italian Grand Prix.
STATEMENT ISSUED ON BEHALF OF THE ACU ACU Events Ltd regrets to announce that French rider Franck Petricola, 32, from Pont a Mousson was killed following an accident at Sulby Crossroads at approximately 7.45pm during this evening’s qualifying session at the Isle of Man TT races. Petricola was a regular competitor in the IRRC Championship and enjoyed his best season in 2013 with 11th overall in the Superbike category. His best result, sixth, came at Chimay and he ended the year strongly with six successive top ten finishes and took a brace of thirds in the Lightweight Races at Horice and Terlicko. He was due to make his TT debut in 2014 but was injured in the North West 200 meeting earlier in the month and was forced to withdraw from last year’s event.
